I had some stuffs from Sibu that needed to pass to my youngest brother. He ordered 'mee sua' aka longevity noodle from Sibu and my parents also bought for him and his wife two packs of fried sweet banana. Since I had my home tutoring job at nearby where he stays, we arranged to meet up for dinner. It had been awhile I met him since his wedding last year, so what a better chance to do it. He does not stay nearby me. Therefore, it was a short precious time together over dinner.
Everyone was tired, so after picking my brother and his wife from MRT, we decided to just eat nearby the MRT. He chose here!
Summer Feel
Location: 20, Jalan Medan Midah, Taman Midah, 56000 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur.
It is a small coffee shop, we called it 'Kopitiam' in our slang. It was their second time trying at this shop, previously they tried the Western food and said it was nice. Summer Feel actually specialises on Western Food, those grilled lamb and chicken chop stuff. One special thing about the shops here along this road are, all chairs and tables are arranged on the road. In a way, the road becomes not usable at all. Kind of weird to me but my brother said it is normal here. After looking at the menu displaying all sorts of Western food, we still wanted to try Chinese cuisine.
The most outstanding one was this stall operated by an uncle right at the front of the shop. He sells 3 types of noodles dishes; curry mee, fish ball noodles and Hakka mee. 100% Chinese style. So we ordered from him. My sister-in-law and I ordered curry mee. My brother ordered Hakka mee. 'Mee' means noodles. :)
Curry Mee
When our curry mee arrived, it impressed us. So much ingredients in a bowl. We had generous amount of 'char siu' aka BBQ pork, beancurd puffs, fishballs, fish beancurd, beansprouts and fresh clams. It came with a dipping sauce of chilli sauce and lime. We could choose the types of noodles we preferred too. I chose mine with rice vermicelli and yellow noodles while my sister-in-law went with only rice vermicelli noodles.
Everything was yummy except the curry soup was abit undertaste. We still enjoyed our bowls of curry noodles though.
Hakka Mee
Hakka Mee is a dry egg noodle dish, a simple dish by Hakka Chinese and the ingredients varies from stalls to stalls. It can be as simple as just noodle tossed with a seasoning sauce and topped with minced pork to noodle tossed with seasoning sauce but with added vegetables on top of the minced pork. The one by this uncle was the simplest type, just the noodles tossed in tasty yummy seasoning oil and topped with minced pork and spring onion. However, it came with a bowl of soup full of ingredients like fish balls, pork balls, tofu beancurd and beancurd with fish paste. Quite special. My brother said it tasted awesome.
Beverages
I ordered carrot mixed with apple juice because I was so thirsty after 2-hour teaching and talking with the students. My brother ordered his favourite iced milk tea while my sister-in-law ordered iced plain tea. The drinks were refreshing.
It was a great short-time of catching up. Precious 45 minutes and we all did not prefer to sit longer. All were tired and wanting to go home for a refreshing bath. I passed all the stuffs I got from hometown to my brother, you could see how happy he was receiving the food goodies he loves. I was happy too to give them a simple dinner treat! Noticing how tired my brother is, I feel so sayang him. As a married man, I know he has more responsibility now. I bless him from the bottom of my heart.
When I arrived home, I got surprise from my husband too. He bought back delicious satay!
Satay
Satay or sate is pieces of marinated meat in skewer, barbecued on charcoal fire, often served with peanut spicy sweet sauce and cucumber and onions. My husband bought chicken meat this time from my favourite satay stall. The pieces of meat were huge yet so soft and juicy. And the peanut sauce — one mouthful and we were blown away. Super delicious that we could eat it on its own. I actually used spoon to scoop the sauce and eat it. Yums!
