it is a docile looking creature, but the gnarled staff it carries, with branches twisted into a series of synchronised patterns, holds a sinister, spinning orb of power
Hello Splinterlands Community!
Welcome to another Splinterlands Share your Battle Weekly Challenge. For this week challenge the legendary Spirit Hoarder from the other world representing the neutral element.
For those who are new to my post, I usually post information which is related in the Silver League Modern Format but I already started battling in Gold league which gives me additional knowledge in the battlefiled.
Spirit Hoarder is a support legendary card with main purpose is to cast triage and protect backline units.
Looking at the basic stats of Spirit Hoarder, this card is not a offensive monster as it only deals a 1 to 2 magic damage which is then can be nullify and weaken by a void ability, a speed of 1 and a health of 3. By looking at those figures, this card basically a support card that mainly rely on its ability for a cost of 3 mana.
In terms of the ability, the main ability that Spirit Hoarder have is the triage ability to heal and support backline units that are affected especially by a sneak, snipe and scattershot attack.
Leveling up to ★2 gives the ability to dispel an opponents. This includes the removal of positive stats boost such as bloodlust and martyr effect. This is a pretty powerful thing recently as it was update to have an effect on the said abilities.
Increasing another level unlocks the blind ability which is also a good use when dealing with physical attack as this effect gives the attacker a chance to miss the target.
Spirit Hoarder for me I think is a utility monster that can be use from time to time depending on the ruleset and strategy. I do think that if you are expecting an attack from the backline, then a triage will be very useful.
When it comes to summoner, since this card is a neutral any summoner will do but in my personal opinion, if you have a strategy to use backline taunt with a triage support, Lily Shieldpaw can be with Spirit Hoarder for a double triage.
On the other hand, Mimosa Nightshade totally disable Spirit Hoarder main function and Immortalis nullify its low magic damage.
| For a strategy such as a rear taunt with a sustained triage, A Lily Shieldpaw with triage and a Spirit Hoarder for a double triage could be a pretty good use. Just make sure that frontline can sustain as well else this strategy won't work. | |
| This summoner totally disable Spirit Hoarder. With the affliction effect, a triage won't be much of a work as it stops any monster in healing while the void ability then nullify Spirit Hoarder weak magic attack. | </tr|
| The same with Mimosa Nightshade where it can nullify Spirit Hoarder attack because of the void | </tr
In terms of monsters, those monsters with taunt that can attack in the backline would be a good choice to have with Spirit Hoarder.
Besides those taunt, expecting a snipe or sneak attack would also be a good use in order for Spirit Hoarder to support those backline that has been attacked.
Below are the monsters in the current modern format with Taunt ability that can attack in the backline:
Below are the monsters in the current modern format with Taunt ability that can attack in the backline ONLY when melee mayhem, equal opportunity or super sneak ruleset is active
Note: this list does not include the soulbound reward card
In order to counter this card, there are a lot of ways:
In terms of ruleset, Spirit Hoarder may be best to use in the following ruleset in my opinion:
| By increasing Spirit Hoarder health, this increases its survivability and could be able to provide a better sustained especially when healing a monster with a high health. | |
| With Spirit Hoarder mana cost of 3, this card can be a good use for the little league to provide support in the backline. | |
| Expecting an attack to the backline because of the target practice means that Spirit Hoarder triage is a good use. |
There are ruleset that Spirit Hoarder is not recommended:
Modifications: Noxious Fumes, Odd Ones Out
Mana Cap: 24
Playable Splinters: Life, Death and Dragon
With the noxious fumes ruleset in place and with a mana capacity of 24 mana, I have decided to use Lily Shieldpaw triage ability together with Spirit Hoarder and Djinn Renova to have a triple triage that can sustain poison damage.
Let's do the battle analysis per round:
Analyzing the opponent's lineup, there were only two monster, Uriel which have a high health and healing power and Adelade Brightwing with immunity, repair and ressurect. This is pretty a good lineup as Uriel is the only one affected by poison but can be countered by its healing power. With Adelade ability, it can resurrect Uriel in-case defeated and with ressurect, his removes the poison status.
There are some main points in this battle:
Adelade has been defeated in Round 2 by the combined poison damage and stich leech attack. This eliminates the ressurection of Uriel for poison removal. This means that every rounds Uriel is affected by poison and is now being ganked by the three monsters in the backline.
Looking at the health of Stitch Leech, Djinn Renova and Spirit Hoarder, the health are sustained by the triple triage.
Evelyn Auvera has been defeated in Round 4 but provided a pretty good defense in the frontline holding Uriel enough in order for the team to reduce its high health.
In this battle, it may not shine too much for Spirit Hoarder but this show-case Spirit Hoarder triage ability in order to sustain damage taken.
In my opinion, Spirit Hoarder is a good utility card which main function is to support the team to sustain damage and win the battle. This card may not be good in attack and defense but is surely great in supporting other cards.
Overall I Spirit Hoarder is a good monster.
How do you think Spirit Hoarder is?
