Happy Friday everyone, I hope you've all had a good week! Today I'm going to put together a post I've been meaning to assemble for some time, but not had a chance to get to it until today. The ruleset Outsider has really shaken up Modern play allowing one card from the older Wild decks to be played with your teams. One I have really been taking advantage of is Kulu Mastermind, a legendary Chaos reward card that is one vicious card. But when you combine it with Captain Frankie it becomes downright nasty!

But first, I'm playing in Modern gold, and have finally managed to unlock division 5, it's not an easy feat and took a lot of work!

Now back to Kulu Mastermind...

At level one he has a melee attack of four with the abilities of Weapons Training (can give non attack card attack ability when adjacent to him) and Opportunity allowing him to attack the opponent's card with the least health. At level two he pick up Shield which give him protection from physical attacks by reducing damage by 50%. At level three he picks up an extra melee attack unit up to five. Then at level four he picks up Enrage granting him 50% more speed and attack power if not at full health, it makes him a real monster!

Since I have not played Wild in over a year, it has been fun to use this old Chaos card once again! Now onto the battle to see him in action with Captain Frankie:

This is not a long battle, over in less than two rounds. But still fun to watch!

This screen shot was taken after buffs are applied but before the action has started.

This is a battle in Modern with a mana cap of 40, so not really high. But high enough it leaves open some options. The ruleset is Outsider allowing you to play one card from your wild collection. This ruleset is always a lot of fun, although I don't always take advantage of it unless it gives me a competitive edge.

For archon I chose Captain Frankie as he allows stacking of melee attack and gives Pierce (once shield is destroyed the rest of the attack is applied against the health) and True Strike (attacks never miss) to two of your cards. I decided to do a modified rat team since the mana was relatively low, putting Bloodline Tribute card Saltwraith Pirate up front. When he falls he gives an additional health, speed, armor and power unit to each rodentian type on your team.

Now for my team, my tank was Saltwraith Bulkhead followed by rodent card Echelon. Next up I placed Kulu Matermind with Vicious Quilliun, another rodent card next in line. I finished off the team with Kervik, a legendary rodent card with Camouflage so can't be targeted unless in the first position. Unless the opponent has reveal, which mine just happens to have...

My opponent chose Razi Clanktrap as archon with a tank of Doomshield Warden, which is a great tank! Next they placed Halfling Refugee followed by Spinetail Fiend. Next up was Steelshield Arbolest and ended the tail with Bristleborn Brigand. The last two were cards I am not all that familiar with, which always makes it fun to watch!

Here Kulu Mastermind puts a nasty hit on Steelshield Arbalest, not killing him, but pretty close!

Then my Saltwraith Pirate falls giving the Bloodline Tribute to all my rodentian cards.

One by one the opponent loses cards to brutal attacks. Kervik takes out Bristleborn Brigand with a single hit.

Here's how things look at the start of round two.

Kulu Mastermind again earns his keep taking out Halfling Refugee with a brutal attack of ten melee!

And Kulu Mastermind makes the final deathblow. Great game to my opponent! Kulu Mastermind when combined with Captain Frankie and given pierce is a serious force to be reckoned with... Sadly, I have seen less Outsider rulesets this season, hopefully there will be more next season!

In the end legendary archon Captain Frankie overpowered my opponent. When you can, Kulu Mastermind is a perfect addition to a team based off of Frankie. This match was really over before it started, but it was fun to watch!

Three Foundations Packs Opened!

I always like to share some pack openings in these posts, and recently had a great one! I finally pulled a gold legendary card, it's been a very long dry spell, so it felt great!

I pulled a gold foil copy of Great Bear Druid which only has a population of 199 cards, so it's pretty rare. I also pulled a gold foil Chaos Furybringer, although not expensive, it still can be a useful card.

And nothing real special in the last pack. Oh well, the gold legendary was enough to make my day!

If you don't yet play Splinterlands, it is a fun game and free to play in Frontier Mode. So give a try, if you haven't joined in on the fun of playing Splinterlands you can join here: https://splinterlands.com?ref=thebighigg

That will wrap up my Splinterlands post for this Friday. Please feel free to leave any questions or comments below, and as always thank you for all of your support, it's greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone!
