The world is really desensitized by the opinion of majority. There is a humongous devastating trading of one’s morality –if we can still raise this word or we don’t even recognized it’s definition and just listed in different names of dictionaries. What a waste of time to define morality when its denotative nor connotative definition doesn’t blow our minds or even prick our hearts. How do we validate our values if our values are even valid than the majority is?
With this awakening truth of the so called reality, I can’t deny the fact that what I called planet Earth – a place we need to be protected against global problems and environmental disasters that we all face daily has a more challenging issue to deal with. Indeed, this is what has to be magnified. The dying humanity – dying in the inside, dying in morals, dying in principles… dying in purpose. The natural calamities as long as not caused by human agents are not of our control, yet the battle within takes one’s great participation.
I want to quote a truth from the book of James, “But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.” Upon reading this I paused, I mulled and I didn’t even know what to say because I am guilty without shadow of a doubt. I don’t do what the world perceived as sin in a bias way, but when I am just honest before God whom I can’t hide anything, my heart is filthy. It might be that it’s unknown in man’s eyes, but unconcealed before my Maker. I am convicted of a life time imprisonment. Until when do we dare wearing façade? Aren’t we sick in tired of pretension? Until when do we decide to let go of the wrong perceived freedom while in reality imprisoning ourselves from trap we chose to bury ourselves into.
To add up, an African proverb states, “When there’s no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm.” It’s beyond our will power. It’s beyond our persistence. We need God’s hand to overcome compromise. I do. You do. We all do.
The bottom line is morality needs more than definition of the term. It’s holding onto the hand of the only One who didn’t just inform but most importantly lived out how it is defined. The root cause has to be deracinated. It is possible, but takes a lifetime process of willingness. The big question is, are you ready for the first step?
