The very idea of serving someone or condescending to societal standards nauseates me. Society is based off an algorithm: first you are born, then you grow up, go to school to learn whatever schools feed you, then you start college and you have to think however they want you to think in order to get your title. After that, you are supposed to find a high-paying job—otherwise you are a failure—, marry someone, form a family, pay taxes, get in debt, work, then work a little more, retire, and die as though you had never lived the life you wanted to live in the first place. Some people, however, seem to accept this recipe as though it were natural, as though some superior deity had imposed it on them as the sole and only alternative to existence. After all, some have to rule and some have to obey: it is how things work whether you like it or not, and trying to change it feels rather uncomfortable. Why go against the flow when you can conform to societal standards and avoid all kinds of conflict?
The upshot is that we are not free. We are conditioned by external expectations since we are children, and as adults, we are coerced, spied on, and controlled by our Estates and financial institutions. We have to behave according to the laws they enforce on us, whether they are justified or not, and use the currencies and economic system they want us to use, but hopefully, that's changing for the better with cryptocurrencies. I'd rather trust cryptography than the feeble human nature to take care of my money; I'd rather not have all of my transactions controlled by any bank whatsoever, as though I were some sort of potential criminal; I'd rather pay only for whatever I think is worth paying, not for whatever they deem I must pay (e.g., taxes).
All in all, I want a freer existence, or, in words of Shakespeare:
"I am too high born to be propertied,
To be a second at control,
Or useful serving-man and instrument
To any sovereign state throughout the world."
