Everyone nods when you say, "Someday we'll look back at this and laugh."

It's comforting. It's true. But here's the question most people never ask: if it's true that you'll eventually laugh about it... why wait?

Why drag yourself through unnecessary suffering when you already know the punchline?

The Buddha taught that pain is inevitable, but suffering is a choice. Pain is what happens to you. Suffering is the story you tell yourself about it — the mental loop, the victimhood, the refusal to let go.

That gap between pain and suffering? That's where mental toughness lives. It's not about pretending everything is fine. It's about refusing to add unnecessary weight to what's already heavy.

If you know you'll laugh later, give yourself permission to laugh now. Not because the situation isn't hard — but because you get to decide how you move through it.

What would change if you stopped waiting for permission to feel better?
