Hello,
Writing about the vacations makes me feel I'm still there!
Grouse Mountain is located in North Vancouver. As I always prefer using public transit I got the SeaBus from Downtown to Lonsdale Quay and then the bus 236 to Grouse Mountain. Just make sure you buy tickets for zone 2 unless it is the weekend.
My goal was to go up the mountain following the hiking route known as the Grouse Grind. An impressive challenge with an elevation gain of 800 m in only 3 km. Fortunately I was very well received by the forest :-)
I think is the steepest hike I've done in my life. It took me 1 hour to go up, below the 90-min average and far from the 25-min record! Once there I took my time to have a good rest and eat before walking around the place and visiting the different attractions.
Besides the physical activity and the views what I liked the most was the Grizzly Bear habitat. There are two orphaned Grizzly bears: Coola and Grinder. Coola was trying to sleep while we all, the annoying tourist, were taking pictures. Grinder was very active but preferred to stay most of the time hidden behind the trees.
For the return I went to the Capilano River Regional Park which I recommend if you want to stay out of the crowded Capilano suspension bridge but still enjoy the beauty of the Capilano Canyon. To go there you can take the same bus 236 or walk 2 km downhill ;-)
...and another recommendation, finish the day with a delicious and protein-rich Japanese Ramen soup!

In the next days I'll be posting about my visit to the gorgeous Joffre lakes and the views to the Matier Glacier ...
