Seeing this topic, I felt like someone knew what I was going through and suggested it but I know that’s not it. As humans, no matter how well we have something figured out, we always still have that point where we feel lost and needy of help or even a miracle to help us pass that point. Personally I don’t think there is a particular solution to completely getting everything figured out in life but then at every stage when we face these problems we somehow still look for a way to get out of it. So in this post I’d be sharing some few aspects I try to find a balance.
- Time management and prioritization
We all know how important time is to us and from what I’ve observed personally, I’ve come to see that anytime I spend my time carelessly I always end up feeling so lost and unfulfilled. So learning how to manage my time is one way I try to find a balance. You want to make sure you are intentional about the time you give to things and people, if it’s not beneficial to you or them then it’s obviously not worth the attention. Yes sometimes we can just give in to things that take our time but it shouldn’t be at a time when we have so much to do and that’s where prioritization comes in.
- Mindfulness and self-care practices
At a point when I feel so lost, one thing I try to do is pay more attention to me, try clearing off every form of negativity and meditating more on things that makes sense to me. Most times we get so caught up in the middle and we forget about our own well-being and at that point finding our feet just always feels imp because we are lost! So at a point when it seems like it’s getting hard to breathe, what you might just need is a break for yourself.
- Boundary setting and communication
For someone who always loves mingling with people, I’ve come to understand that at times I find it so hard to draw a boundary and other times I find myself communicating poorly and these two things take a tour on me. I’ve had misunderstandings with those around me and I know how hard it was for me at that time to think better and do things right. And that has shown me how important it is to communicate right and also set necessary boundaries.
- Healthy habits and routines
It’s just hard most times to feel good about anything when you are not doing well in health. No matter how positive minded you may be, it’s just hard to understand or do things well than when you have a sound mind and body. The habits we cultivate and the things we do daily has a way of affecting how we find a balance in life. Sometimes we just have to find a way to let go of some habits and find a better routine of how to do things.
- Emotional intelligence and resilience
No matter what happened, one thing you want to avoid is breaking down completely or giving up. Life can be really hard on us sometimes but then I always believe in one thing, as long as you already know there is a problem, that’s the first step to getting it sorted out. Always keep trying and never relent in doing something to make life better for you because there will always be something trying to make living hard for you.
- Technology boundaries and screen break
This is one of the hardest parts for me because I’m someone that does more than 80% of everything online but then that’s all the more reason why a break is important and recommended. We need a screen timeout as that’s the only way we can start seeing things around us better and learn to appreciate them better. Our devices too needs some time out too so it’s good we consider getting a rest every now and then as that will help us finding a good balance.
- Seeking support and community
I always love appreciating the fact that I have people around me that I can go to meet for support. In life the easiest way to run is to not run alone but to run with those that have the same goals as you. It’s always best if you know that there is always someone there to give am helping hand than you trying to do it all alone. You might be very capable but then still don’t try to do it on your own, seek for assistance.
These are a few things I try to work on personally to give me a sort of balance, though not a permanent balance but quite sustainable and I hope someone gets to benefit from it as well. This is my entry for the hivelearners weekly topic on ”WE NEED BALANCE”.
