As an Hive user, one thing that most of us if not all are worried about is getting a downvote and also a warning from the hivewatchers. There are so many reasons one could get a downvote on Hive and I would be pointing out some of these reasons in this blog to help you avoid getting these downvotes. Well, I've been a victim of downvote before and I know how I felt, it wasn't pleasant at all even though I didn't receive a huge down vote like others.

Hive is a decentralized platform as we all know and that means everyone is free to do as they will but then there are some measures that have been set up to keep in check some of the activities of users. And one of those measures is through downvotes. I remember a time when I saw a someone who got downvotes because he paid someone to write for him and unknown to him the person was a freelancer and he was not aware of how much the hive blockchain despise plagiarism.

Although the user claimed to have told the freelancer about the consequences of plagiarism and how he also made sure to use a plagiarism checker before he posted but then the hivewatchers still caught him. At that point I was reminded again to be very conscious of the things I write and avoid plagiarism as much as possible. Well, like I said, there are so many reasons why one could get a downvote from whales and I'd be mentioning them shortly...

  • COPY AND PASTE The hive community is very sensitive about this. It's somewhat similar to plagiarism but then this is even more unacceptable than plagiarism (not as if plagiarism is acceptable)because here, the culprit just go on the internet or a book to copy word for word and share it here on hive without putting in any effort at all or even giving credit to the original writer and they expect to get a good reward for it.
  • SPAMMING When users are fond of sending the same comment to different people, this is seen as spamming and it is unacceptable so when you are caught you might be blacklisted after a few warning. Therefore, users are advised to put in effort to make good and interacting comments and also posts. It's also advisable to not make a post or comment if you know you don't have something good to ask or contribute.
  • PLAGIARISM This is like a national anthem already here on the hive blockchain. Plagiarism is totally unacceptable so if anyone is caught they are surely going to get a downvote for it. Aside the hive watchers, there are some other users especially community moderators and Admins that are very vigilant when it comes to this. So always do well to avoid it as much as you can.
  • IDENTITY THEFT I never thought this was even possible not until I saw it on the blockchain. There are some people that have been victims of this in time pass. Whenever you are suspected to be someone that steals people's identity, you will be punished by getting blacklisted and downvoted. On hive, every user is encouraged to be genuine users. You don't have to show us your face but don't ever steal someone's face and identity as yours.
  • FRAUD AND SCAM

These are criminal offenses and are never tolerated here on Hive. A lot of people have been robbed of there hard earned rewards on hive so when anyone is caught to be involved in fraud, they will never go unpunished. There are so many people that take advantage of the people they brought to hive because of their lack of knowledge on some things. People are not caught easily when it comes to fraud and scam but then we all should know it's not something good and we should refrain from it. As newbies and even oldies, you all should learn how to make research and ask questions from different people so you don't fall victim of these fraudulent activities.

  • PHISHING This is quite common and also similar to fraud and scam. I've heard of how users were robbed of their savings just by clicking on a link they found in a comment section. Most of these links are click bait and you should be very careful not to click on them carelessly because people have lost a lot through it. Therefore, those users that are caught sharing these kind of links are blacklisted and downvoted as well.
  • ABUSE There are so many things that are attached to abuse when it comes to Hive. A lot of things are easily regarded as abuse so we have to be very careful so we don't fall victims of downvote because of abuse. Some delegations can be regarded as abuse in the sense that most people delegate hive power so they can get support and this might be regarded as abuse by some users.

Also, posting often especially those that have good chances of getting support. Yes, the hive blockchain needs users to create contents but when you get too much support on most of your contents, then some other users see that as abuse. From my own research, it's fine to make at least two post a day with the time gap of 12 hours. There are other things that are regarded as abuse but then, these are the two I've seen so far.

  • A SUPPORTER This is a bit rare but it happens. There are some users you get an upvote from that would attract a downvote to your post. I've been a victim of this and I was so worried at that point until I got to know why I was getting a downvote. Some people refer to this kind of downvote as a personal grief or something. It is not for you but for the person who supported your blog. This one is hard to avoid but it's mostly temporary, so don't worry too much about it.

Well, I've said a lot and all of these things I've said are based on personal research and observations. I do hope you get to learn a thing or two from it so you don't fall victim. Do well to leave your comment below, I'd be very much ready to interact with them.

Until next time, stay AWESOME and JIGGY!!!
