It wasn't a very happy day for us here in Venezuela, as our country was struck by two earthquakes yesterday, one of 7.1 and the other of 7.5, which caused serious damage and resulted in the deaths and disappearances of our compatriots. Fortunately, international aid is arriving to assess the situation, as many areas are still without power and cell phone service. Thank God we suffered no loss of life or property here; the earthquakes were strong, but so far everything is calm. It's difficult to write this post right now, but I must continue, now more than ever, as the economic situation in the country will become even more critical. This is why #hive is so important, and above all, we need nature to provide us with food during these difficult times.

Today, my wife and I went to visit some of her relatives who live nearby, so our first stop was at her aunt's house. Since they have ample space for planting, she takes full advantage of the opportunities agriculture offers. In this case, there are some pumpkin plants that grew almost by accident, since she added the seeds to the turtles she keeps nearby. Some of the seeds have grown quite a bit, but especially this one that's spreading across the wire mesh that covers the inner garden where she keeps her most prized plants.

Another pumpkin is also growing near a hibiscus plant, as well as some others in pots. This last plant might present a minor inconvenience since it's right in the path leading to her garden, so you have to move around a bit and be extra careful when walking.

I am truly grateful for sharing this post here in the #hivegarden community, where now more than ever we will need the blessings you offer us in the form of food, as difficult times are coming, but we will surely overcome them because we are a people eager to improve.
