My shoes have seen many miles. I remember when I began to enter 5ks I bought the best pair of shoes I could afford. They were almost 200 dollars. Now I wear them to do yard work. They have walked me through the finish line on several occasions and carried me when I thought I couldn't go any farther. My shoes have accompanied me to the hospital when my dad was taken off life support. They carried my sobbing body through the hospital corridors and drove me home. They also carried me to my many therapy appointments and took me safely home when I thought I couldnt make it from all the feelings I was feeling. My shoes have kicked embers back into the fire as my family set around the firepit reminiscing and laughing together. I never thought of my shoes and all the miles they have walked in these two years.
