A few weeks ago a small storm stormed over our small country, not even so serious, not even very violent ... but we were shocked when a loud bang suddenly sounded above the sound of thunder. The dogs flew to their feet and began to bark hysterically. After we calmed the dogs down a bit we could finally see what was going on.
A glance out the window told enough, we were very lucky. There are 2 huge chestnut trees in front of our house, and one of those 2 trees had broken off a huge branch that had fallen into our front garden with a huge blow. Do I call that happiness? Hell yes! We were lucky that it was not a branch that hung above the roof. If a branch with that thickness and weight had fallen on the roof, it would have gone straight through the roof. So yes, luck that the damage has been limited to the broken branch that fell in the front yard without causing further damage. But it was a shock to see that ...
We went outside in the rain to immediately clean up the broken branch because half a tree in your front garden is also not handy. He was also a part of the street so clean up as quickly as possible. With the chainsaw we have made 'handy' pieces of it and placed it at the back of the yard. There are fun things to do with it, you have to make a virtue of necessity and I do provide some new beautiful table lamps with a beautiful wooden base ...
From the thinner branches you can make nice flower stands and so you can think of many more things. In the meantime, the wood that we have just received for free is drying up and the first ideas about what to do with it are starting to arise ...
And the first flower stands for outside have now been made in a fast way.
Is this what you call making the virtue a virtue, being grateful for what nature offers you? Or is it simply to place 'creative with wood' under the name.
It does not make much difference ... the fact is that the chestnut trees must be carefully examined because if a branch breaks off in such a way there is a chance that several will break off. Perhaps lightning has struck, that is still possible. But that too needs to be sorted out, because if it wasn't lightning and the tree is no longer healthy, then something must be done to ensure safety. After all, you don't want the next storm to produce a branch through your roof.
