History of the Maserati A6G

The A6G were different series (GT, racing sports...) produced by Maserati from 1947 to 1956 and named with the first letter of the first name of one Maserati brothers, Alfieri Maserati and the 6 stands for the straight-six engine. This model A6GCS (CS for Corsa Sport) was built to compete in World Sportscar Championship from 1953 to 1955.

Gioacchino Colombo, Italian engineer known for his Ferrari-Colombo engine, designed the engine with the help of Medardo Fantuzzi (coachwork Carrozzeria Fantuzzi) and Celestino Fiandri. Very competitive car with great result during the Mille Miglia. This example was driven by the famous Italian driver, Luigi Musso (see Bonus Pics Section).

Specification

The Maserati A6GCS has an improved A6G 2 liter 6 cylinder engine producing 170 hp. In total, only 52 examples were built (48 open spyders and 4 berlinetta with Pinin Farina coachwork).

This example was carefully restored in 2013 and won the Gran Turismo Award during 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Beautiful example of the Italian automotive history...
