Sometime last month, someone sent a message in our elementary class GC. I honestly have forgotten about its existence already, so I was surprised when I opened it and was welcomed with a 100+ messages. Hahahaha I guess everybody got super excited to learn about this ancient GC. 🤣

The usual catching-up topics were talked about. Later on, we learned that some of us (including me) have already been staying in Metro Manila, while others will be flying in soon. With that, we decided to meet up. There were supposed to be four people in this mini meet-up, but the other two didn't make it on our agreed date. So in the end, it was just me and N.

It was so funny because N and I are apparently staying quite near each other, yet it would be our first time to meet after our Elementary graduation, which happened last 2007! That was 15 years ago! Hahahaha Gosh!

Good thing, we both wanted to just chill, sit, and talk, so we agreed on meeting at a cafe. I suggested Hisbeans Coffee because I once saw pictures of it online and the vibe of the place was inviting me to visit. Plus, it is located around the area, so getting there was not a problem.

Hisbeans Coffee is located at 116, Timog Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City, Metro Manila. As of writing, it is open daily from 11:30AM-8:00PM. While doing my research for this post, I learned that Hisbeans Coffee is originally from South Korea, and this branch at Timog is the first-ever branch outside Korea! My korean heart is doing a happy dance! Hahahahaha

Anyway... Upon entering, I was welcomed by this floor-to-ceiling white brick wall. Aesthetically speaking, I think this is one of the highlights of this cafe. I mean, just look at this minimalist-slash-tropical look! That huge mirror in the middle is definitely an eye-catcher as well.

I arrived at Hisbeans earlier than our agreed time, so I was able to do a bit of work before N arrived. While waiting, I decided to order a drink. When I asked, the barista told me that their bestsellers for the frappe are Dark Chocochip Hibeanccino and Strawberry Hibeanccino. I ordered Caramel Hibeanccino though because... it's Caramel. Haha

As I said earlier, N and I haven't seen each other for a very long time. We never had any form of communication in those years either, so part of my introvert self was a bit worried that we might not jive or we might run out of topics to talk about. Small talk is the death of me, so in case we would have that awkward silence, I wouldn't know what to do. Haha

But guess what? N and I ended up having a non-stop exchange of stories! Naturally, we recalled some of our elementary days memories. We had such a good laugh playing back these scenes as if they happened just yesterday. Haha. It's amazing how we still remember the small details of our fun childhood despite the years that passed by.

Aside from that, we also conversed about our adulting life and other things we do and like. I am soooo happy to learn that we share similar interest towards Korean series, movies, and books! We geeked out about these things, which got me all excited and giddy. Looking back, I feel like I might have been a bit too loud during this part of our conversation. Haha Sorry!

It was already around 7PM when we decided to leave. I also realized at this point that I didn't get to take a picture of our order. Haha. I was really just sooo in the moment, so I don't feel guilty about those uncaptured food and drinks. But N and I ordered Iced Vanilla Latte when she arrived. She also ordered a pastry, but I forgot what it was! 😅

Experience and interiors aside, their coffee was so good as well! The taste really complements with my taste buds. Aaaaand! Another thing I love about this cafe is the fact that they hire PWDs! Actually, they not just hire them. I read a post online that the employees at Hisbeans also attend classes and are trained to become professional baristas! Isn't that awesome?!

A barista offered to take our picture after seeing us place our gadget on a counter to take a timer selfie. Sooo thoughtful!

I am so happy that I got to meet someone from my younger years, who turns out to be my newly-discovered series and books soulmate! ❤️

Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.
