As I mentioned in my previous post, I went to Cebu last October-November to attend my friend's wedding and facilitate a crochet workshop. While planning/preparing for the trip, I told my Manila friends about it and jokingly asked them if they wanted to fly after me and meet in Cebu. They said yes! And to my surprise, it wasn't just a passing yes. They actually went! Hahaha
The first time we were in Cebu together was right after my College graduation. As somebody who's routine revolved around just school, home, and a bit of mall, I had no idea where we would go that time. Up to this day, I still laugh and feel ashamed whenever I remember the places where I brought them back then. LOL
Fast forward to the present, we are much older and now know more about what we want to experience and try. There were still bumps during the trip, but nothing we couldn't find a way through.
I was with my friends during their entire stay in Cebu, and this was how our 3 days and 2 nights together was like…
They arrived in the airport before 6AM, and met with me near our place to drop their luggage off so we could explore the city better. We had breakfast together and I made them try Ngohiong for the first time! It still amazes me how they've never tried this delicious food their entire life! Haha
Cebu trip wouldn't be complete without visiting Magellan's Cross, so of course, we had to go! The first time they went there, Magellan's cross was still closed due to the damages brought by the impact of the Bohol-Cebu earthquake 2013. Good thing that this time, it was already open. It was so cute 'cause they took a then-and-now photos outside Magellan's Cross! Haha
By the time we ran out of things to do, it was still early so we decided to stay in the nearby McDonalds before heading to La Vie Parisienne. I was quite surprised when I entered La Vie because the place looked different from when I last went there. It is now more spacious and more "instagrammable." But I would say that I was disappointed that the smell of freshly baked pastries upon opening the door was no longer there. :( I remember that a few years back, entering the shop was my favorite part because of the very good smell that would welcome us. Anyway, I stayed there for just a couple of minutes and left my friends because I had to head to Journeys Cebu to prepare for my crochet workshop. I told them to take that time to rest since they had a very early flight. They didn't miss my crochet workshop though, as they followed me at the venue not long after the workshop started. When the workshop + egress finished, it was already around 5PM, and the 3 of us headed to the shop where we rented a car. We then had siomai for dinner at Tisa. It was good, but unfortunately, the store where we dined wasn't selling the siomai that satisfied our cravings lol. We should have tried another store in the area! But busog parin naman. Haha
We stopped by the grocery store for a bit to get some essentials, and that very night, we were off to Badian.
Night car rides are fun and peaceful, but I guess it's a different story when the driver and passengers lack sleep, are unfamiliar with the road, and there are cars with blinding lights. Plus, we had a hard time locating the place we booked! When you think nothing could go worse, then hold your horses because dude, it did. Hahaha While we were in the middle of looking for the resort, we lost our mobile signal (hence had a hard time contacting people from the resort), 2 out of 3 phones were dead, and power bank was drained. Hahaha. It legit felt like we were in a movie. Hahahaha Problem-solving skills were shaking. lol It was honestly not the best 5-6 hrs of our lives, but no regrets! It was still part of our experience… of our Cebu story. ❤️
