Rikka is completely unconcerned with how badly her son has beaten Mio, she deserves every bruise and injury—even death—for her disobedience.
Her true concern is not that her son is a woman-beater, but that Mio has sullied the family name with the revelation. This kind of thing stays behind the closed doors. No publicity, please.
It is only a matter of time until her continuous efforts to create division, provoke Sumio to action, and coerce Mio to the edge finally work, pushing her to a point where she is gone for good.
