I remember since today the best hummus I’ve ever had my whole life. It was in a central market in Akko, an ancient city of Israel. I can still feel the softness of that creamy hummus melting in my mouth and the delicate taste of chickpeas. Oh, Israel! So many great memories… I thought I could never ever try such a great hummus if I didn’t land again in that beautiful country. However, I was wrong! And I found an amazing hummus here, in the paradise of rice!

Hummus Chiang Mai

Hummus Chiang Mai is a charming restaurant close to the Old Town. The owner is an Israeli guy who decides to bring the magic of hummus to the country where rice is almost obligatory in every meal!

But his hummus is so amazing, that the restaurant becomes very popular in the town. On the menu, plus a delicious variety of hummus, you’ll also find falafel, taboule, fatoush and other famous dishes of the middle east.

The restaurant is a super charm and cozy place and the staff is really hospitable!

Hummus and falafel on pita

I tried the falafel on pita, which was super crunchy and fresh. But the hummus, for sure, is a must-try! They serve it with different toppings, which can be avocado, mushrooms, shakshuka, cauliflower and also a fusion version with morning glory, a typical veggie of Southeast Asia. I tried the version with mushrooms and it was simply amazing!

Pita bread, some tomato sauce, and pickes come together with the dish! It’s super well served and two people can share the plate for sure!

We also had a Muhallebi, a traditional pudding made with rose water and pomegranate. In their version, the pudim is made by coconut milk and some pieces of mango are also added to give a little Thai style to this incredible dessert.

At the end of the dinner, the owner was very sweet and give us some mint tea with cinnamon making this dinner a fantastic experience.

I really recommend Hummus Chiang Mai, especially for making real those sweet memories of that amazing hummus that I’ve tried in Akko some years ago!
