After one year living in Thailand, it's time to explore new horizons! I arrived in Vietnam a week ago and I realized that, in terms of gastronomy, there is a lot to explore around here. Especially when it comes to noodles! While in Thailand rice was the king, in Vietnam the noodles seem to be the star!

This week I visited "Pho Thu - Vietnamese cuisine", a nice restaurant that offers delicious options of traditional Vietnamese dishes, including of course, noodles!

Bún Thịt Nướng

Bún Thịt Nướng is a popular Vietnamese dish. "Bún" means "noodles" and "Thịt Nướng" means grilled meat. Yes, it is a combination of noodles served with barbecue! What a brillant idea!

At the base of the dish there is a leaf salad. Then a vermicelli, which is a kind of rice noodle, is added. On top are vegetables such as cucumber, carrot and turnip. Then follows a portion of pork barbecue and a spring roll to complete! I order a vegetarian option, but it was amazing anyway!

To give more flavour, a little sauce made from fish sauce come together. Yummyyy it's very tasty.

What I liked most about these noodles is that it brings together different kinds of flavors and textures! No doubt, I think I'll like the cuisine here!

To finish, I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee (Cà Phê Sữa), which is a strained coffee served with condensed milk. An incredible combination!

Pho Thu Vietnamise Cuisine

Pho Thu is a nice little restaurant, but not the most traditional one... The menu is in English and the main dish served is Pho, a kind of noodle soup that is served with meat or chicken.

Besides the food, what I really like about the restaurant is that the menu explains the origins of the dishes.

The prices aren't the cheapest comparing to the restaurants, but they're still affordable. A Bún Thịt Nướng well served comes from 90k Vietnamese dongs, or about US$ 4.00.

This was my first experience here with Vietnamese cuisine and you can expect a little more! I've seen that there's a lot to explore around here...
