I am an ordinary flight attendant from China Airline, having joined the airline for only a few years and have no impressive experience, every day just serving passengers and doing monotonous work.
On June 7 year ago I came across an experience that made a change in my outlook on my work and my life.
Today our itinerary is from Shanghai to Peking, the passengers are very full today.
Among the passengers I saw a grandfather from the village, embracing an old sack and very clearly visible the style of his village, at that time I who stood on the plane to welcome passengers the first impression of my mind is that today is already advanced one from the village already have the money to board the plane .
When the plane was flying, we started serving drinks, as it passed the 20th line, I looked back at the old grandfather, he sat up straight and stiffly in his seat by holding the old sack like a statue.
We asked him what to drink, to his surprise he waved his refusal, we were about to help him put the old sack over the trunk of the seat also rejected by him, then we let him sit quietly, before the food distribution we saw him sitting tensely in his seat, we offered food also rejected by it.
Finally the head of the flight attendant intimately asked him if he was sick, in a small voice he answered that he was going to the toilet but he was afraid whether dipesawat can move carelessly, afraid of damaging goods in the plane.
We explained to him that he could move as he pleased and instruct a steward to escort him to the toilet, while serving a second drink, we saw him glance at the passenger beside him and swallow hard, not to ask him we put him a glass of tea at his desk, we surprise him, shocked him to say no need not, we say you are thirsty drink, at this moment spontaneously from his pocket is issued a handful of coins offered to us, we explain to him the drink is free, he does not believe, he said when he was in the trip to the airport, feeling thirsty and asking for water to the food vendors on the street he did not diladeni even expelled.
At that time we learned to save the cost of traveling from the village he walked to the new airport by car, because the money was very small, can only ask minunam to street food vendors were mostly rejected and considered as a beggar.
After we persuaded him last he believed and sat quietly drinking a cup of tea, we offered food but were rejected by him.
He told me that he had two very good sons, the eldest son had worked in the city and the youngest was in third grade at Peking. the eldest son who worked in the city picked up his parents to live together in the city but the parents were not used to living in the city eventually moved back to the village, this time the old man was about to visit his youngest son in Peking, his eldest son did not have the heart of the old man car so far, so buy a plane ticket and offer to accompany his father together to Peking, but rejected by him because it is considered too extravagant and the plane tickets are very expensive he insisted to go alone finally with his son agreed.
By embracing a sack of dried sweet potatoes that his youngest loved, as he passed through security checks, he was told to leave the bag in the baggage place but he insisted on bringing it himself, he said if put in place the sweet potato will be destroyed and his son does not like to eat the broken potatoes, finally we persuaded him to place the sack on the trunk of the seats, finally he was careful he placed the sack.
While on the flight we continue to add drinks to him, he always replied with a sincere thank you, but he still would not eat, even though we know actually he was very hungry, when the plane was about to land in a small voice he asked me if there was a small bag? and asked me to put his food in the bag. He said that he had never seen such good food, he wanted to bring the food to his son, we were all very surprised. We think that every day seeing the food so ordinary in the eyes of a village becomes so valuable.
With hunger set aside food for the sake of his son, we moved to collect the remaining food we had not distributed to passengers placed in a bag that we would give to the grandfather, but unexpectedly he refused our gift, he only wanted the part he had not yet eaten not wanting that is not his own, the sincere deeds really made me touched and became a valuable lesson for me.
Actually we assumed all these things had passed, but who suspected when all the passengers had come off the plane, he was the last one on the plane. We helped him out the plane door, before he went out to do something that I can not forget all my life, that is, he kneels and worships us, thanks him repeatedly, he says that we are all the best people found , we in the village eat only once a day and never drink so sweet water and food so good, today you do not look down on me and serve me very well, I do not know how to thank you guys. May God reward your kindness, by worshiping and crying he utters his words. We were all touched by him and told someone who worked the field to help him out of the airfield.
During my 5 years of working as a flight attendant, a wide variety of passengers have been encountered, a lot of whims, fuss and others, but have never met anyone who worshiped us, we just run our duties regularly and no privileges we give, only serving drinks and food, but the 70-year-old grandfather to worship us thanks, embracing an old sack of dried sweet potatoes and hunger to set aside his food for his beloved son, and unwilling to accept food that is not his part, the act makes I am deeply moved and become a very valuable experience for me in the future that is not to look at people from outside appearance but must still appreciate everyone and be grateful for what we can.
