"Hey uncle Ben, where are you in ?", David said as he walked into his uncle's room to inform him that breakfast is ready.
David's uncle, "Ben", is a scientist who had zero belief in things science could not explain. If science can explain then it must be true and if science can not then, it's a hundred percent fake.
David entered his uncle's room only to notice that there was no one present. He called out his name but there was no response. And after a while of waiting for a response while browsing through his uncle's awards in physics and other science-related departments. He decided it was time to go, maybe, his uncle probably had gone out to buy something. So he thought, but as he was about to leave, he noticed a cloak on his uncle's bed. It was shining and had all the colors of the rainbow.
He found it a little strange and so he decided to check it out.
He picked up the glowing cloak while he was standing in front of a mirror. He put on the cloak.
And just like magic, he vanished. Only to appear in a town filled with people dressed in a way that looks very similar to the ancient Rome era.
"Where am I," he said in utter confusion "I was just at home, and now I'm here..." He said to himself still confused.
Walking around the city, like a fish new to sea, he noticed that the buildings were marked with the words "false king", and even the people were not from his time, as none of them had a cell phone. He stood frustrated looking around the weirdly built city, that looked like the city in one of those bible stories his mother always told him about. And the people in the city also had a funny style of dressing that made him stand out from them. So he decided to look for some way to blend in Before he draws too much attention to himself.
In the process of blending in, some soldiers passed by him, riding on horses. And behind the horse, was someone he presumed to be a prisoner.
He took a closer look, wanting to know what the prisoner looked like. And to his greatest surprise, it was his uncle!. He had been beaten so badly that he could barely be recognized. What tipped David off were the markings on his uncle's shoe which was a Nike sign And also the fact that he still had his wristwatch on his wrist, making him the only one from David's time.
David grabbed a cloth, hanging on a rope nearby, covered himself with it, and followed the horsemen.
Finally, they arrived at a place that looked like the white house, only that it was not the white house. He looked at the far distance and noticed his uncle being dragged into a cave part of the building.
He ran into the cave and noticed that the cave was no ordinary cave but a dungeon. With prisoner rooms and metal bars of the room visible. But despite being a dungeon, it was very empty. Allowing the voice echo from his uncle's captors to be heard. He followed their trail carefully and closely until he was distracted by the sight of a man, who looked old and weak.
He stopped running for a moment to take pity on the old man who was trying to reach a bowl of water by the side of his prison room but failed each time.
He moved closer to the old man and passed the water to him
"Thank you, son "...the old man said, " I've been trying to reach that bowl of water for over a decade now. Thank you, son. You have found favor in my eyes..." The old man said.
"I would love to stay and chat sir, but my uncle is In trouble, and I need to help him"
"But son, how on earth do you intend to fight off an army of soldiers alone.
"I don't know, but I can't stay here and do nothing". David said as he left the old man to pick up the trail of the soldiers who took his uncle.
"Go in peace, dear boy. And may your bravery and kind heart be rewarded with good. Good luck". The old man said raising his hands for about a second before it collapsed to the ground lifelessly.
David finally caught up with his uncle's captors, but this time there seemed to be a new addition to the group. A man in a pharaoh's outfit stood in front of his uncle. And the area they were all gathered in, seemed to have a pit stationed at the center of this open room, that looked like the gladiator's battleground, a place where people come to watch other men fight for their lives.
"So you think you can steal from me? Just who do you think you are? , The man in the pharaoh's outfit asked in anger. "I will show that nobody, no living being steals from pharaoh, the great!!. Because, I ...am GOD!!!!." He said with his arms stretched apart and head bending backward.
"You don't scare me." Uncle Ben said with boldness and charisma, "I've fought many wars, there's nothing you can do to scare me, I've seen death and it couldn't break me either. I eat your type for breakfast, lunch, and dinner".
"Wow, I'm impressed"..the pharaoh said mockingly, "alright men, feed him to the Lions. Let's see how brave he still is".
David stood at a distance, hiding away, while still observing all that was going on. The soldiers picked up his uncle and dragged him to the pit, that contained the hungry lions. The Lions roared louder and louder as the soldiers came closer and closer, to the pit. His uncle was about to die and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Suddenly, he heard a voice shouting "stop!". And he was truly shocked to realize that he was the one yelling for them to stop. He had unconsciously run out of hiding to confront the ancient soldiers. What have I done, he said in his mind. But still tried to maintain absolute calm and fearless in front of them.
"David ?!, His uncle exclaimed, as he saw him, " what are you doing here?!"
"Well, your wife told me to inform you that breakfast is ready... So....breakfast is ready." He said, trying to make a joke.
"Get out of here David!! ". Uncle Ben said trying to provoke him to run away.
David got the hint and was about to go when he heard a thundering, cry.
"Don't you dare move an Inch!!". It was the pharaoh. "So, Mr thief, I see you have a family. Since you are not afraid of death, then, I'll allow you to watch, as your family dies". He signaled, and two other guards appeared and grabbed David now pulling him towards the lion.
He tried to fight back screaming at his lungs, but, more guards appeared and aided him, the guards carrying him to the lions.
His uncle begged the pharaoh to set David free, but the pharaoh was only happy to see him begging, but he gave, no order to stop.
And just as David was about to meet his doom, a burst of bright light appeared in the sky, catching the attention of everyone.
And slowly, an image descended from the burst of light, landing graciously on the ground. Lo and behold l, it was the weak old man he had helped out earlier, he was looking more healthy and fresh, clothed in a white garment that was as bright as the sun, causing them to look away from him.
"No !!, It can't be". Pharaoh said as he looked at the other guards(soldiers), "I told you not to feed him or give him any to drink"
"Sire, we did as you said"
"If you truly did as I said, then what is this" pharaoh asked pointing to the old man.
"Your reign of terror is over," the old man said as he snapped his fingers, causing the pharaoh and soldiers to turn into dust. He then looked at David and gave a warm smile.
Later on, the now powerful old man wiped out the rest of the pharaoh's forces. The people praised him, dancing and singing "Rejoice!! Rejoice!! Rejoice!!! , for the kind has returned!!!"
Finally, peace was restored.
And just before he sent, David and his uncle back to their reality.
He told David to stretch out his palms, and David did, in a manner as if trying to scoop water to drink.
Then the old man placed a tiny orb of light, that shined very brightly, and the folded David's palm to cover the light.
And as he did this, the citizen, who were dancing and singing, began to sing a different song, but things time, praised David in the song.
"He has given me the joy of my heart,
he has given men the joy of my heart oo,
after so many years of my sorrows,
I am walking in Dominion... "
"Your future is bright David, and I have bestowed upon you a gift of gifts, go and walk forever in Dominion..we the people of Dominion city are forever in your debts". He said as he opened a portal for them to return home.
His uncle went first, and as he was about to leave, he took one last look at the old man, and at the people, as they chorused
"walking in dominion,
I am walking in Dominion again", in a continuous loop.
He smiled and waved, as he walked through the portal, returning to where they came from, and still on time for breakfast.
Esp.
Gracias, hijo.
"No me asustas".
