All my life I always had decisions on wall colors made by others but somehow it always suited me in the end. Decorations on the other hand is a big deal for me because I like a lot of space.
I don't know if it's a guy thing, but most of the guys I've lived with have always opted for functionality over being fancy. So a lot of the time we would have lesser things to manage in the house.
Once there's a bed, a few chairs and a gaming console, I don't really need much of anything in the way of decorations. Coincidentally whenever I'm away from family, I've always lived in apartments populated by other guys so there really wasn't much to do regarding painting and decorations because we only had our clothes and basic stuff in the house.
As for decorations, I'm what my cousin would sometimes call a scatter freak. I always change the arrangement setting of my room almost every two months.
I'd probably have the bed by the window this month and two months later I'm tired of that view and the bed moves close to the door.
It's easier though because I hardly keeps things for long, so a lot of times I have less property to deal with whenever I'm redecorating or rearranging in this case.
I only ever had to decide on a paint job one time when I somehow ended with getting a free room at my uncle's house.
They'd just moved to a new house which still had a bit of construction work ongoing and I ended up with one of the rooms that still had a bit of work to be done.
It was either accept the space or share another room with my cousin, I decided to go with privacy. I had to choose a wall paint and grey was my first choice. Grey has always been my preferred preference when it comes to wall painting because it wouldn't stain easily and the region I lived in was quite dusty on most times of the year.
There was one problem though, the room didn't have much sunlight coming in so grey wasn't the best choice.
It had to be a color that wouldn't be dull or colorful(I'm not a fan of bright colors) but would also be something in between, then I realized most houses I was used to either used grey or a mix of brown and cream colors on their walls.
I had to settle for cream color and luckily there was still enough left over from the house painting to cover the room. I threw in a mattress and finally, I had a room to myself.
Lots of people feel that colorful walls make bold statements with a lively vibe and I've seen a lot of them that I've admired from time to time, but personally I prefer a more subdued outlook when it comes to wall paints.
