When I read the prompt description, I almost took it as a fantasy, but then I remembered that such an occurrence, or something similar, is very possible.
I remember a time when a cousin of mine lived in a house that had a grave in it. Hold on, this might not be common to you, but back in the day, rooms were sometimes used as burial places for the owners of a house when they died. After some time, the floor would be levelled back to normal, and people would continue living there as though no grave had ever existed.
This cousin of mine would always get scared to go into that particular room alone at night because of fear, and he would often say that he heard voices coming from the room at night. It was very laughable to us back then, but it could have been very real to him.
So, if by any means a painting in my family house started echoing voices at night, although I would be very skeptical, I would also find a way to discover the source of the voice and see what was going on.
My curiosity would not come from the fact that the painting was talking, but rather from how it came to be. Oh yeah, I'm always interested in how these supernatural things work, and I have always wanted to know how these spirits operate. Except, of course, if the painting was digital and some electronic devices were connected to make a voice come out of it, but I don't think that would be the case.
If I got to understand the mechanism behind the voice, I would like to communicate with it and ask more questions about how it came to be. Maybe I would find some answers about the supernatural world that are beyond human understanding because I believe that every voice from the supernatural world has one or two answers that could completely shock human understanding.
I once watched a series which I still consider my favourite TV series to date, "Legend of the Seeker," where people could live inside a painting. That was real magic at work.
