You can't make them fear death
For they decided this life is worse than death.
You can't make them doubt their chances,
They weren't certain in the first place
But that didn't stop them.
You can't make them love their country,
They never felt they have a country.
All this place has done to them
Was make them feel lesser individuals
And make sure they know they're disadvantageous.

They hold no things or places in regard.
Countries are portions of land--
Of rocks, plants, dirt, and sand.
They only value ideas.

"A Chance" is an idea,
A very appealing one,
In a place where there's no alternative,
An idea worth traveling for.

People are no plants.
People can and should have ideas.
People can and should migrate.
That's why we have no roots.

The hundred and twelve people
Who died earlier this week,
Drown in the sea,
Drown in their hopes,
Their basic rights,
That turned out to be
Irrealistic dreams,
Are definitely not to blame
If the world forgot the fact
That people are no plants.

Only 68 out of 180 people who tried to illegally migrate to Europe through the Mediterranean returned alive to Tunisia when the small overcrowded boat have drowned. Their only regret is that they couldn't make it to the other side or die trying.
