I Ran 10Km then I had a Swim Before my Shift ( also powered up 5 HP)
Yesterday there was a semi marathon in La Marsa, which is a costal neighborhood in the northern outskirts of Tunis.
I woke up early (around 5:30 AM), had my breakfast and went to La marsa.
We had some warm up and some animation then we started running.
I haven't ran any long distances for the last months but I didn't feel any pain. Maybe the occasional biking I do helped with that.
I started getting tired by the time we reached the hill of Gammarth after about 3 Km. I was about to give up and walk uphill then I saw these guys.
These are the pacekeepers for 10Km per hour. One guy was running with them halding a big speaker with loud songs. If he could keep up with the pace holding that heavy thing, so can I. I thought to myself. My heavy thing being the overweight I only notice when it's unconvinieny. Meaning when I'm doing sports.
I failed to keep up with them but I succeeded in running till the end. I made a resolution that no matter the pace, I have to keep running till the end. No stopping and no walking. Except for the three stop where they provide us with drinks and other stuff to recharge.
The view of course helped motivate me.
I was looking at the sea all the way, eager to reach the finish line and have a swim.
I tried to record the activity via actifit but the app glitched and paused after less than a Km. But luckily Actifit came through and recorded 23917. I should have used actifit's new tracking feature.
La Marsa beach isn't the best in Tunisia but it was convinient to have it right at the finish line.
It was actually nice this time of the year. Very clean and calm. But the water was still cold unlike late in the summer.
After a quick swim I went back to the finish line where there was a fun animation anf some giveaways. Free snacks and drinks and all.
People from all over the world participated as usual.
The event is a yearly marathon called Run of Heroes, organised to raise money to help treat children from cancer.
Last year, according to their official website, they helped 140 families with their struggle against cancer.
