Hello Splinterlands Community, the challenge for this week is to strike down the enemy team with the use of Gem Meteor which is probably one of the underrated cards in the Chaos legion set for me that is actually very effective in battles.

About Gem Meteor

Gem Meteor is an epic neutral unit that deals ranged damaged to enemies and also belongs to the Chaos Legion set. The current lowest price for a regular foil card is $0.51 while the gold foil card is currently listed at $4.63 on the market as of this writing. It is one of the cheapest epic cards in the Chaos Legion set since this card is not commonly used in battles which makes it easier to upgrade compared to other epic monsters in the Chaos Legion Set.

The figure above shows the overall stats of Gem Meteor from Level 1 up to its maximum Level of 6. Since this card is an epic unit it would take less amount of cards to be bought/or collected that will be used to upgrade this card to its maximum level. Based on the figure above I can say that upgrading this card to level 4 would be nice to increase its ranged damage, at the same time upgrading this card to at least Level 5 would be great because it unlocks now the Piercing Ability that helps this monster to take down enemies that has a low amount of armor and health.

The Ruleset

Back to Basics

image.png

There are two rulesets for this match, first is Back to Basic. This ruleset removes every abilities from all the monsters in the battlefield, it makes the match favorable for magic and ranged damage monsters. That is why I decided to use ranged damage monsters in this match which includes a very durable unit on the first position.

Spreading Fury

image.png

The other ruleset for this match is Spreading Fury, it gives all the monsters in the battlefield the Enrage ability. This ability makes the unit buffed up with bonus melee damage and speed once it receives a damage from the enemies or from certain conditions in the game as well.

My Lineup

Summoner: General Sloan

image.png

I used General Sloan as my summoner for this match. It gives +1 ranged damage to all monsters in the team at the start of the match. The ranged damage buff from this summoner boosts my ranged damage units a lot in order to deal huge damage to the enemy team and secure the victory.

Monster 1 : Xenith Monk

image.png

I placed my Xenith Monk in the first position. It is a durable unit that has a good amount of health. It also deals melee damage to the enemy and also has a lower mana cost compared to other durable units available for this match.

Monster 2 : Gem Meteor

image.png

I also used Gem Meteor for this match. It has the scattershot ability that makes this card target random enemies every time it attacks. However, this ability is currently disabled for this match because of the Back to Basic ruleset. Nevertheless, it still has a good amount of speed which makes this card capable of striking first every round.

Monster 3 : Supply Runner

image.png

I also used my Supply Runner for this match. It deals 3 ranged damage to enemies with the buff coming from my summoner. This unit does not have any abilities at lower levels which would make this card not affected by the Back to Basic ruleset.

Monster 4 : Prismologist

image.png

I also used my Prismologist as one of my main source of damage for this match. It deals 4 ranged damage to enemies with the buff coming from my summoner and it also has the blast ability which deals extra damage to monsters that is adjacent to the targeted enemy unit however this ability is removed for this particular match.

Monster 5 : Portal Spinner

image.png

I also used my Portal Spinner for this match, It also has the scattershot ability just like Gem Meteor which is also not enabled in this match, the only difference between the two units is that the Portal Spinner has an armor in addition to that, it deals more ranged damage compared to Gem Meteor but has lower amount of health and speed.

Monster 6 : Venari Crystalsmith

image.png

Lastly I placed my Venari Crystalsmith in the last position. It deals ranged damage to the enemies and it also has the tank heal ability which is not available for this match because of the Back to Basic ruleset.

ROUND 1

image.png

On the first round the opponent's Shieldbearer was taken down while my Xenith Monk did not survive all the damage coming from the enemy team. My Gem Meteor also was able to dodge 2 attacks from the enemy team that makes this card survive the first round.

ROUND 2

image.png

In the second round my Gem Meteor was taken down by the enemy team while my team was able to defeat the opponent's Blinding Reflector and Tower Griffin which gives me a numbers advantage heading in the next round.

ROUND 3

image.png

During the third round my team was able to take down the opponent's Mantoid however my Supply Runner was also taken down by the enemy team. After both teams only lost one unit in this round, I was still able to have the numbers advantage heading to the next round.

ROUND 4

image.png

On the fourth round my team was able to took down the opponent's Supply Runner leaving the enemy team with one unit remaining heading in the next round. The armor from my Prismologist was huge since it absorbs the ranged damage from the enemy team that enables the Prismologist to survive this round.

ROUND 5

image.png

On the fifth and final round my team was able to took down opponent's remaining monster which is Goblin Chariot. It cannot deal any ranged damage at all since it is in the first position while my Portal Spinner was the one who deal the killing blow to the enemy unit which secures me this huge victory.

Gem Meteor is a good card to use in ranked battles whenever you are planning to used a ranged damaged focus team. This card deals ranged damage to the enemy team and the scattershot ability of this card makes it unpredictable to know who this card will target every round. For this battle I manage to secure the victory using Gem Meteor alongside with other ranged damage monsters to take down the enemy team. The back to basic ruleset makes me carefully analyze the positioning of my monsters since there are no abilities involve in this match besides the enrage ability coming from the Spreading Fury rule. There are other team compositions where Gem Meteor can be utilized very well and I'm excited to discover it and perhaps share it on the future posts.
