As my collection of Lego has got bigger I've realised that I have a lot of minifigs, at first I thought these were just the bits that are the add-ons to the pieces in the set, useful props to sell what the set is meant to be.
This was certainly the case when I was a kid, every mini-fig had the same blistered on smile. The hair was so fake looking that 'Lego Hair' became a insult for a bad toupee but the modern mini-fig is something more than that, there are a range of facial expressions, some variance in skin tones (although perhaps a little to much default yellow for modern society) and with the range of outfits you can now really tell stories with just the minifigs so let's have a look at a few
Amber & Nick
Meet Amber and Nick. Nick was an copy writer, Amber worked in PR in Melbourne, but then they rejected the capitalist life, endless debt and crippling nine to five slog and moved to a lovely little farmhouse just outside of Kyneton.
Nick is now a woodworker/aspiring novelist/wild mushroom forager and pulls beers at The Albion Hotel (you have to try the black amber session milkshake north by north west NEIPA - it's possibly the best beer they have had all year).
Amber is a organic gardener/wellness blogger/influencer. Her organic wheat free, flourless, carob red velvet mud muffins look amazing on insta. She is also and primary carer/life coach of Flopsy McTavish the rabbit.
The Fro-Yo Brothers
"Bro - Fro Yo?"
"You know Bro."
"Hey Jo, Do you Fro Yo?"
"Ummm, yeah I suppose, do you mean with you two?"
"Yeah Jo, me and my Bro and going from Fro Yo in a mo."
"Awesome ryhmes Bro, high five."
"Yeah I don't want to go anymore, but enjoy your Frozen Yoghurts and your life of underachievement."
Martin & Mortimar
Met Mortimar and Martin, They met in a little Christmas sourie at a friend's chalet just outside Montreux back in the late 70's - since then they have become quite the fixture on the social scene in London and Paris. Mortimar is a patron on the opera, whilst Martin prides himself on being a benefactor and mentor to a number of hand picked young artists.
Pictured here was their marriage last year - a small simple affair after all these years together.

"Dude, smell this."

"I know, can't believe this is happening when I'm wearing my lucky beanie."
"Guys, have you checked out the food vans? They have spent grain encrusted fried chicken with Citra hop sauce - only $14 a drumstick."
