It has been quite cold these past few days in Enugu. The rain pours and pauses and I'm compelled to write this poem.

Your feelings, like August rain,
sway unpredictably.
Drizzle and yet pelt my heart like drain.
Drenching my heart with love arbitrarily.
If this love is real, pause it not.
Let it flow without easing up,
for we need not blow cold and hot.
I am sick of momentary love like hiccup.
I stream and get lost in my road of thought.
Always wishing your love becomes less erratic,
and like harmattan cold cling to my heart.
This duvet, I shall not have to pick.
But you have become colder than the weather,
freezing my heart like Iceland without remorse.
Yesterday, in bed, you were hotter than hellfire.
My August love gives me much injury to nurse.
All I seek is pure love.
Just a continual thrust of unswerving emotion
If hot, I will be caught in your inferno of love.
And if cold, do not defrost this icy hormone.
