We pretend not to lie
My love and I
But we lie together nightly till dawn
she makes believe she lies with no other.
Though I know that is a lie,
I grin and pretend I know not.
I will not deny lying with others too
She lies with the man from work
"We are just friends" she lied.
She lies as much as the hens in poultry lay
And I lie to the Holy Spirit in the church
He knows I got money for offertory
I still sing lyrics of my lie during worship.
Her white lie, I cannot take anymore
Even if I have to lie in bed alone
Lies I do not cherish to eat for dessert
But she will spoon-feed me with lies
Of her undying love.
To convince me, here we lie in this couch
But then, I wonder why so much fuss
When lying is part of our existence.
