Pinnacle
This is my entry for the Zapfic Friday 50 contest with the prompt "pinnacle." Contest details are here.
The goal is to write a story in exactly 50 words. This is a major challenge to some of us.
Five hundred applicants. That was the limit. I was pretty sure I would not make it to this pinnacle. However, here I was.
Joanne smiled at me and handed me the microphone. The next few moments would determine everything.
Then, suddenly: darkness. I felt myself floating upwards. And nothing more.
