The past weekend was basically spent to celebrate my mum-in-law's 64th birthday with my sons.

Her birthday falls on a Saturday so I took my son to grab some flowers at our local florist in Friday night. It was a very rushed thing to do as I finish class at 7pm on every Friday, and after I fetched the boys from their grandparent's place, it is already 745pm.

Luckily the florist is just a 5-minute drive away. However they were closing at 730pm supposedly. So I planned that if we see the shop closed when we drove by, we could get it on Saturday instead. For whatever reason, they postponed their closing that day because there was still customers.

It is a simple florist stall by the roadside actually but I come here for flowers usually because their price is more affordable. Not forget to mention, the owner is very friendly and nice. I brought my boys this time so they could choose what flowers they want to get for their grandma.

It was their first time there and they at first did not know what to choose from. I introduced some flowers to them, those I can recognise like roses, carnations, daisies and eustoma. There are some ping pong flowers that I do not know their names. I think they looked really cute.

The eldest chose a pink rose and some purple filler flowers while the youngest who knewly exactly what he wanted, chose a red rose. I picked some carnations and then some eustoma. Next up was choosing the wrapper and a ribbon to go with it.

The children were attracted to some small animals like bunnies and parrots in the shop too.

My eldest was very concerned about the time as I told him the shop was closing soon. So the shop owner heard him and apologized to him instead. No need for the apology actually because I was thebone feelingg sorry we delayed their closing. They did a splendid job in wrapping the flowers, really. It was done professionally and easily within 5 minutes!

The owner was really kind to offer candies to my boys and they were thrilled. Why? Because my boys have not taken a hard candy in their lives! The eldest have tried lollipops but not anything without the stick before. So it was an amusing experience because he asked me if he can swallow it or what does he do to reduce the size of it. Then he was so concerned if the little brother accidentallly swallowed his. At first the little one replied, "Still in my mouth." To the 3rd round of asking, he replied, "Oh I think it has gone into my stomach!" Hahaha it was hilarious.

Here are some photos of them posing with the flower bouquet.

After we reached home and bathed, the firstborn drew a birthday note for their grandma.

I also packed some nuts packs for her as I know my mum-in-law enjoys nuts a lot as snacks.

The Day

They woke up knowing it is their grandma's birthday! So they were ready as we were delivering a small surprise to Grandma. Usually when they go over, my eldest likes it that Grandma comes down to get them at the lift lobby. Today we did not do that but went up to the house ourselves.

When Grandma opened the door, the boys shouted "Surprise!" and the little one immediately wished her happy birthday. It can be watched on my TikTok account.

In the evening, I brought in a small birthday cake as I know my in-laws now do not fancy sweet stuff much. We sang birthday song and the boys took turn to pray and bless their grandma.

The celebration in Saturday was simple because on the next day which is Sunday, we went for a feast with the family for her birthday celebration part 2! My husband needed to work on Saturdays so there is no too elaborate celebrations. We just sat and spent time at her place to chit chat and catch up.

We are very thankful for my mum-in-law for her laying down and her help in taking care of the boys when I have to go out to do my part-time tutoring. Bless her with good health and a good life, riches in all sense!
