On the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "A time will come upon the people, when a person will not care whether what he is taking is halal or haram, permissible or illegitimate."
(Sahih Bukhari)
EXPLANATION:
The meaning of the hadith is very clear and the time which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned in this hadith has undoubtedly come. It is important to think and research about what to wear whether it is permissible or illegitimate. There may be worse times ahead. (Musnad Razin's narration of the same hadith also adds that the prayers of these people will not be accepted at that time)
Not distinguishing between halal and haram and legitimate and illegitimate is the death of the spirit of faith. The impact of the teachings and instructions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the lives and hearts of the Companions can be gauged from these two incidents.
In Sahih al-Bukhari, this incident of Hazrat Siddique Akbar (RA) is narrated that one of his slaves served him some food and he ate some of it. It was realized that in the era of Jahiliyyah before the era of Islam, I had deceived a man by pretending to be a priest and had misled him. As the soothsayers used to give away, today that man was found and he gave me this food in his account. When Hazrat Abu Bakr came to know about this, he put his finger in his throat and vomited everything that was in his stomach.
Similarly, Imam Bayhaqi has narrated the incident of Hazrat Umar (RA) that once a person offered milk in the service of Hazrat Umar (RA) and he accepted it and drank it. He asked this man: Where did you get the milk? He told that I was passing by such and such a ghat, there were Zakat animals, camels, goats, etc. People were milking them, they also gave it to me and I took it. When Hazrat Umar came to know about this, like Hazrat Abu Bakr, he put his finger down his throat and vomited the milk in this way.
