THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ AND HIS COURAGE IN CALLING PEOPLE TO THE ONENESS OF ALLAH
A Lesson on La ilaha illa Allah and Allah’s Guidance
This story truly contains a great lesson. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ called upon the Quraysh to worship only Allah and to say La ilaha illa Allah. But some among the Quraysh refused because they clung to their old traditions and the deities they had worshipped before
Abu Jahl and those who shared his view were astonished at the idea of replacing all those deities with a single God, and they said:
Has he made all the deities into a single deity? That is truly astonishing
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ never ceased to call people to the truth He taught them that Allah is the only God worthy of worship and that He has no partners.
ABU TALIB AND THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ
The story also recounts the painful episode involving Abu Talib.The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ loved his uncle dearly and sincerely wished for him to receive guidance and attain salvation in the Hereafter
But this story teaches us an important truth a person can call others to what is good, but the guidance of hearts belongs to Allah
Allah says in the Quran:
“إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَن يَش
Which means:
You cannot guide the one you love but Allah guides whom He wills
This verse reminds us that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ called people to the truth, while the guidance of hearts belongs to Allah.
WHAT I LEARNED
Personally this story reminded me not to lose hope in those for whom we wish the best. We can call others to goodness with wisdom and compassion, but we must know that guidance belongs to Allah.
This story also shows how hard the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ strove to convey the truth to his people despite the many rejections and obstacles he faced
