I bought this Trek 520 a few years ago as a solid tourer capable of carrying enough for week-long camping trips and well enough built to last another twenty years until I'm old enough to need something with a motor. The friend I go on trips with bought the same bike but unfortunately they only had the same colour so now we have to coordinate our clothing to NOT look like twins.
Living in Thailand we have plenty to explore from the mountains in the north (when we miss the beaches) to the beaches in the south (when we don't miss the mountains 😂). Joking aside, I lived in the northern city of Chiang Mai for a few years and regularly cycled up the local mountain of Doi Suthep. It's a 19-km climb to the very top and I became absolutely addicted to that 25-minute freewheel back down. There's also a lovely viewpoint over the city after just 7km and for two very memorable weeks I got up early enough to cycle up to this viewpoint every morning to watch the sunrise. Back home for breakfast feeling wonderful.
Happy cycling!
