A fruitful new week steemians!
So a friend of mine and i engaged in a chat yesterday, he was at the after party of a baby's dedication in lekki, lagos. Nigeria.
He jokingly complained about the menu the chefs had, as about 70% of the people present at the party were vegans (vegetarians).

So i asked him to send me pictures of some of the things they were having.
He did...

I didn't see any of the typical nigerian party foods in any of the pictures.

To say i was impressed is a subtle way to put it.

Because in port Harcourt where I've lived and practically grew up in, a typical party food would have swallow and soup in it, not forgetting jollof rice 😁.

Giving that am a caterer involved in mainly continental dishes as that's what in demand here, people here don't really know these other foods or even eat them other the ones they see in tv.
So we over here, just do continental
I was challenged cause i realised that if there was a demand for any of this dishes, i would fail cause i have little or no knowledge in making them.
And yet, before yesterday i would have thought i was at the up of my game.
But yesterday i was humbled, because I've been rather comfortable just doing what i know how to do best, not reaching out for more.
Just maintaining a circle without much improvement on self.

Basically i realised that the world is changing and demand with it, rapid changes.
"THE KEY TO RELEVANCE IS BEING EFFICIENT IN ONE'S AREA OF SPECIALIZATION", not just knowledgeable enough to meet with the present demands. Keeping oneself in the know of the happening and changes within and outside our environment.
A life of zero competition is life of redundancy and little growth.
To stay relevant, one has to stay updated efficiently.

So I've decided to take more courses this year on intercontinental dishes. More Vegan Recipes as the quest to be in shape is ever increasing.

I hope i inspired someone today...
Have a great week!
Cheers
