Now how many of us have ever had a painful emotional experience before? Perhaps suffered a heart break from someone we loved or broken someone's heart? Can I see a show of hands yes?
I'll be sharing on; A shrapnel from the past: How to deal with painful experiences from the past in other to break the cycle of repetition in your life.(I'll put this in two series)
Series 1
How many of us are currently going through some painful emotional moments right now and are trusting God for His help and healing, yes?
QUESTION:
IS God interested in your emotional healing and does God want you healed and emotionally free? YES.
Luke 4:18; the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, He has anointed me to heal the broken hearted.
Jeremiah 8:21-22; "For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me. Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?
Having settled that God is on our side as regards to this matter let's move on...
CASE ONE: the insane lover boy.
I know of a young man who 15 years ago fell recklessly in love with a young lady. Their love blossomed and it was so strong that one observer confessed that he desired to have a girlfriend with the same name.
The love of these two were so deep that their souls became one, such that when one person fell sick the other knew by default because they fell sick at the same time.
They were literally one and the relationship blossomed for a period of about 3years until the guy lost it and called it quits without even telling the girlfriend anything or any reason and for the next one year no calls, no texts and no relationship. The young lady was devasted and was depressed for a whole year! (this she would confess to him years later).
She couldn't understand why someone she had built her world around would just cut and leave her without any reason... What did she do???
One year and a few months later the guy comes to his senses, becomes remorseful as he realizes both his stupidity and his loss. He calls her up and finds out she had gotten into a new relationship.
He becomes devastated and wants her back (she was willing to return to him even at this point); but again he feels unworthy and doesn't return and lets it go.
The lady was depressed for one year but the guy became depressed and grieved her for 10years not knowing how to move on.
He met many other ladies but was unable to get into a relationship.
There was a shrapnel from his past that was lodged into his subconscious and a cycle of never dating another woman was formed... He was a slave of the guilt from his past not until 3years ago when he finally accepted reality that she had moved on and he let go of all that that he became free to date again.
I have two case scenarios (real life stories) that I will like us to use in learning. Please take time to read through.
CASE TWO: the passionate lover girl.
Lady X, was a passionate brilliant student of the University of Lagos and her CGPA was pretty good and at the end of her second year she was well on her way to 1st class or 2nd class upper.
A's flooded her results and she was the envy and applaud of her fellow students until she was served a Quit notice from the Senate of UNILAG that meant the termination of her admission without defense. It was said that one of her waec results was inconsistent (which was sadly true, as those that worked the admission for her messed this up) and this discovery was made in her 3rd year... She had just one more year to go to become a top class graduate of the department of Cell Biology and Genetics.
The coming months would be one ladder with mourning, sadness and depression.
This beautiful brilliant young lady was so depressed that she no longer made her hair. All she did for months was wake up each day and lay on the bed like a widow. Yes, she had been separated from the live of her life; her education and her heartbreak was severe!
I personally saw her in this state, tried to talk to her but it was like words spoken into limbo. I went into my closet and prayed for her that God would comfort her.
Then, on the day of her upcoming birthday, I thought to buy her a gift, went into a bookshop and while checking for a book to buy I saw one titled; The lady, her lover and her Lord by Bishop. T. D. Jakes. I had an inclination within my Spirit to buy this book which I did, wrapped it up with a gift wrapper and delivered it to her.
Trust ladies and wrapped gifts... She unwrapped it and from that day began to read this book. In a few weeks she began to glow and life was restored.
She dusted herself up. Bought another jamb form, wrote the exam and scored above cut off mark. Got into the post-ume and slayed it. Yes, she gained admission into University of Calabar to study Biotechnology and Genetics, a course far advanced than the previous course and after 4 years she graduated with a second class upper and has served. The rest they say is history...
