Today after kind of falling off the wagon, I had my first meditation session in months. My backyard is green and serene (hey that rhymed!)
I think I've mentioned this before but I'm going to again: I'm not an expert at all.
Matter of fact, consider me a meditation rookie 😅.
I started all of this when my cousin challenged me to 21 days of meditation during the lockdown (this was from Deepak Chopra if I'm not mistaken) and since I'm competitive I accepted.
The funny thing is, I was not into it at all before all of this. It was all too "floaty" for me. And some of it still is.
I dismissed it in my head before even trying it and based on stereotypes. Also I could not keep my thoughts focused without trailing off to a million other thoughts.
Now, my older and mature self, tries to see positive in most things. I try to see what kind of benefits it might have and I at least try it. And my conclusion?
I like the mindfulness version, I'm not so much into the overly "cosmic" (for lack of a better word version. Hahha let's just say I don't necessarily need to float somewhere in the universe... Let's keep it... Earthly 😂😂😂.
So the mindfulness might just be 'check in with yourself' and notice how you're feeling physically and mentally.
That's good enough for me.. That give me 5 to 10 minutes to just reset.
My friend gifted me a year subscription of "headspace" so I'm ready!
My biggest challenge (as always) is to try to find the right schedule for this.. Morning? Afternoon? Night? When can I do this consistently?
Or maybe do it after working out or after basketball 🤔🤔🤔.
So this is the part where you come in..
What is your experience? Any apps you recommend? Let me know if the comments!
That's it for me!
Cheers,
