I've been on the fence with posting this for a while, then saw and followed edb@edb with his weight loss posts.

So here's where I start...

The last 18 months have been pretty depressing to say the least. Pandemic, US election stuff (even if I am Australian), the environment. Need I go on?

In my bio I say that I'm a runner. I possibly should update that to say I used to be a runner. In the past 10 years or so I finished around 8 marathons and just on a year and a half ago I was training for the 'Surf Coast Century' which is a 100km ultra marathon. In training I had gotten up to running 45km and was doing around 80-90km a week. Then my hip flexor started playing up and I couldn't continue training.

My running has always been for an event, as much as I'd like to be one of those people that just run, I'm not. If I'm not training, I'm not running, and for quite a long time I've not been training. I feel as though my marathon days are behind me, but I really need to loose weight.

Last week I checked the CSIRO BMI Calculator and buggar me I'm obese! Just obese, but still, obese. Well that a bit embarrassment!

So my wife (who as beautiful as she is) as also beefed up a bit is starting weight watchers and I thought I might tag along. Recording myself and posting the videos of me playing guitar here on hive has really helped me with motivating me to practice. I'm hoping that recording weights on here may do the same.

So fat shame away! I'm checking in at, as of last Wednesday, 96.6kg on the new digital scales.
