Let me start by saying how excited I am to join such an awesome, supportive community. A quick bio about myself is that I'm a volleyball player/coach that loves to compete in just about anything, especially sports and games. I love anime and movies/ tv shows, especially Game of Thrones! Get to know me, I love meeting new people! My name is Thong (yes, like Siqco's Thong song) Do, and this is how I came to join the Steemit community.
The End is the Start of something new
I graduated from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga 2 years ago and quickly realized that I still didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. So when my dad found me a job as a safety manager at a trucking company, I said, "why not". I didn't know what I wanted to do anyways, so might as well work and make some money, I thought. It didn't take me long until I realized that I hated office jobs. I am an athlete at heart and I'm used to moving around, being active, and interacting with people, being a part of a team. I stayed at this job for about a year until I decided that I couldn't take it anymore and quit.
This was when I thought about going back to school for my graduate, so I can have more flexible time so that I could search for what I want to do in life. So I asked one of my best friends, Grayson, if I could serve for his Vietnamese restaurant (Dua) that he was about to open up. "You're too good for that," He told me. "I need someone I trust to run the restaurant with, and to share in the success." This was how I became the Director of Operations at Dua Vietnamese Restaurant (Fayetteville).
The Turning Point
Being the Director of Operations at Dua Fayetteville was the turning point of my post graduate life. There, I learned so many different skills such as:
-Serving
-Cooking
-How to form relationships with customers
-Managing employees
-Managing cash flow
-How to play the stock market
-How to start and run a profitable business
However, after about half a year of grinding 60+ hours a week, I realized that I wasn't really happy. I knew that the future for me was bright, financially anyways, if I stuck with Dua. However, I didn't feel free. I was always working and had no time to do what I really wanted most of the time. When I couldn't take it anymore, I had to tell my best friend that I will be leaving Dua, to find what I wanted to do with my life. I know that it sounded like a super millennial thing to say, but I had to leave.

After I left Dua, I played a lot more volleyball again and also started coaching again too, which made me extremely happy. Coaching volleyball, at this point in my life, does not give me the finance I need to do what I wanted to do currently, which is to travel and to learn more about the world and myself. Then one day when I was watching a youtube video about a substance called 1P-LSD, which is a legal version of LSD, I went to go to the website to buy some, but they only accepted Bitcoin. I had heard of Bitcoin before, but I didn't really know what it was or what the cryptocurrency scene was all about. So, I decided to research about Bitcoin and ended up buying 2 Bitcoins @ about $1,300-1,400 USD each.
Destination Steem
After buying the 2 Bitcoins, I immersed myself with blogs and vlogs about cryptocurrency and came across @jerrybanfield on YouTube talking about STEEM and the Steemit community in his "10 Reasons for $10 Steem Price in 10 Months!" video which can be seen here .
@jerrybanfield convinced me right away and I signed up for a Steemit account a few minutes later and began to check out the Steemit social platform. I was blown away from the positive interactions and generosity of the community that I bought about 1k STEEM myself and converted it all into Steem Power. This is the first time I've seen and been part of a community like this, so I'm definitely in it for the long haul!
