Hello dear and dear friends, I hope you are very well
Today I want to continue with the comparison of the previous days, but above all that of yesterday, with which it was very necessary to bring you a complete post only for these two composers who have much, much in common,
These composers are Strauss and Mahler, who share a very dense harmony, with quite digestible but very noticeable dissonances, to give tension and character in their works ...
They share a very important time that we can say is influenced to some extent by the lyrics of Nietzsche, who was a philosopher with a very peculiar way of thinking at the time, which influenced everyone at that time,
As an example we can mention Strauss's symphonic poem "Don Juan" based on Lenau's lyrics, specifically his poem Don Juan, which deals with precisely the same thought or way of thinking of the time, the evolution of man, reaching things , beyond Infinity,
On his part, Mahler relies many times on works with similar meanings, but perhaps much more towards the infinite but heavenly, the "life and death"
All this makes both composers use melodies of a similar character, of a notable character, warrior and fighter, as if they were trying to achieve something, in many cases it is the overcoming of man and another is eternal life, but both with the same character as this fragment that we will listen to today:
With nothing more to thank, I send you a big hug!
