Reis Magos beach is located in the southern part of Madeira, near Canico. It was pretty close to our accommodation Airbnb where we stayed for the first 5 days of our travel. We had a tour booked for this day but we had a couple of hours to kill before that, so why not take a walk to this beach and check it out?
There is quite a nice beach promenade to have a walk on.
I have always been a fan of cacti so Madeira overall has these growing everywhere. Here is one example near this promenade.
It's nice to see this clear blue water from time to time. My girlfriend is especially a fan of that.
The sun was intense, we northern people are not used to this UV radiation so we had the hardest sunscreen applied, it still fails to fully protect if you are under the sun for the whole day.
This is the beach, a rocky one. Madeira overall has very few sandy beaches. In fact, there are no real sandy beaches at all. A few there are, are man-made with sand imported from Africa.
Coastal cliffs.
So many people were there at the time. My girlfriend also wanted to go and take a swim there. I did too want to have a jump into the water but we were short on time, had to pass at this moment but we came back there later in the evening and had a jump then.
Oh by the way, right at this beach is an amazing restaurant, I had a pizza there in the evening and it was sooo good. If you go there and need to eat too, go there!
