Last time I got so much feedback under in the comments of drifting shots, it was great! I now have another one for you, of the actual championship event. It took place on Kehala racetrack in Estonia, of course, I was there to take photos and see some action.
The weather was horrendous on that day( 11 July ). In fact, it may be the most extreme weather I have seen during drifting events since 2008 when I started to go on these events. The wind gusts were 27m/s and it was hard for spectators like me. Pit area tents were occasionally flying away and so on. The trees behind spectators were pretty scary, some branches were flying and some of the trees even fell down to the other side, fortunately. Overall, all over Estonia, we had many roads blocked due to fallen trees and many thousands of electrical failures.
Let's continue with the cars. Here are some shots I took in the pit area.
Drivers came from all over Baltics ( Estonia, Latvija and Lithuania )
I did not take many pictures of the pro-amateur class but here are two that I decided to keep.
It's a tradition to do an introduction( parade ) of drivers before tandem races. They can also show off and do burnouts and stuff during that time.
And then the races began. Sadly I had pretty much only one angle to photograph cars. I was not able to go next to the track and stayed in the spectator area which was very crowded. At least, I still got some decent shots of the event.
Like in every motorsport, crashes happen. I don't think I have seen a drifting even when there was not a single crash.
This car was soon back on the track and competing.
After that, I didn't take any more shots because the weather turned even more to the worse. Heavy rain started falling... well actually flying straight to the face due to the wind and I was unable to operate my camera. Still, I watched the event to the end.
The next event will happen this weekend in Laitse rally park but sadly I will not take part in it, I have other plans interfering. The last on will be in September also in Kehala but they will not drive the same track they drove here. Its another section with a jump they will take.
