Devils Den Creeks is a place not far from Gainesville, Florida where you can camp, just walk in the park or go snorkeling in the natural cave, this is what we did. Actually that was the whole purpose of visiting this place.
It's a little hard to find a place because when you type in Devils Den Creek in google maps, it's going to mislead you to another place 60 miles in the north of the real place. That was where I failed because I drove there, it had all the same pictures that in the real place.
As I mentioned, this is a natural cave with spring water. There is about 20C water all year round and you have to choose whether you want to rent a calypso for this as well. We didn't, but after a half hours, we were getting pretty cold in the water.
Here are some mobile phone shots.
The water level in the cave is fluctuating but usually, it is around 15 meters deep in the deepest places so yeah, very deep. You can also scuba dive there if you know how.
There are also several fishes and a turtle with who you can swim with.
Here is a shot of above the cave opening.
It does not look deep but it really is.
Afterward, I took a short walk in the park there but I didn't get any remarkable shots because the weather was too gray.
That was actually the first day in Florida we didn't see any sunshine on our stay there.
Overall Devils Den Creek was definitely something different to see and off the beaten track. Would recommend visiting!.
