Today, I will tell you about my visit to the "Devil's Throat" cave in the Rhodope Mountains.
The cave is located in a uniquely picturesque area—the Trigrad Gorge.
Visits to the cave take place every hour on the hour.
There is only one chamber in the cave, but it is the largest developed cave hall in the Balkans. It measures 110 meters in length, 40 meters in width, and 47 meters in height.
The cave is 175,000 years old and contains no stalactites.
There were bats.
The mystery of the cave lies in the river known as the Trigradska. It flows through the chamber, goes underground, and re-emerges 250 meters downstream from the entrance. However, only water comes out—any objects carried by the current vanish.
A National Geographic list titled "100 Most Mystical Places in the World" ranks the Bulgarian cave "Devil's Throat" in 42nd place.
