A couple of days back I came back from my father's place in the night and when driving over the fields, I saw this nice fog pretty close to the surface. I didn't have my camera so I drove home, took my camera and tripod and drove back as fast as I could.
For some reason, there is a perfectly flat area on the field and it is forbidden to walk on it but I still did. It was dar after all an no one is around :D. I still don't know the purpose of this flat patch.
Chasing fog is harder than you think. It is constantly moving in whatever directions. When I see a nice place with cool fog close by, I put down my tripod, I choose camera settings, I need to get my focus on the point. This takes around 1 and a half minutes usually but this is long enough for the fog already move to another place. So I need to move again to get a nice shot. I even ran after the fog once :D.
I also decided to use car headlights. I stopped at the side of the road and took a photo of a pattern like this. It's really cool in my opinion. I used 8-second shutter speed for this.
These shots are taken on the field with no car light. I used 15-second shutter speeds for these.
As you can see, this one is a bit blurry, unfortunately. But I really like the fog on this so I decided to include it.
I hope I come across the conditions like this again this summer.
