In northern Florida, I visited a place called Gilchrist Blue Springs state park. When I arrived there, my expectation was quite something else I saw there. From the pictures I had seen, I expected many people spending time there and most of all a jumping tower above the deep part of the blue spring...
There was nothing, no people and no sign of the tower I wanted to jump.

I think it was the weather, why there was no soul swimming. It was warm but overcast and it's something not usually present in Florida.

Also this far north we also saw trees without leaves.

This is the place where the tower used to be.

I guess some hurricane flew it away and I was not updated with that information.

Since we already drove there and paid the state park fee, we didn't want it to be for nothing.

After all the spring water was so nice, transparent and warm so we took a dip in.

At some point, I decided to take my camera to get a closer shot of the blue hole as the water surrounding it was pretty shallow. I managed to slip near the hole and ohh damn I was so close to falling in the hole with my camera where it's around 6 meters deep.
By some miracle, I held myself steady and prevented falling down. I think my heart stopped for a moment I slipped. Is there anything worse than destroying the camera equipment while also traveling on the other side of the world.

Here is the shot my girlfriend took of me while I was on the edge of the hole. Don't get fooled by the distance, it was a very steep drop from where I was standing.

Going there with my camera was not worth it at all because the picture I got was kind of meh.

Anyway, lesson learned. Don't try to be a daredevil.

This is a blue spring a little further in the forest.
