I chose one of the most difficult professions, why do I say this? Because of the risk involved in everything that is to be a police officer, starting from training in a specialized school for that, through the hours of work, the absences in our homes, exposing your life to safeguard the lives of others no matter who it is, and the saddest thing is to be singled out by the public as the worst, because in these times there is not the slightest respect for us, this because of a group that has been commissioned to pawn the good work we do other officials.
While it is true that the police function is based primarily on public safety and law enforcement, that is not only our job, the proximity to the public makes us more empathetic to know their needs, and thus seek mechanisms to support those people who are going through some difficult situation.
Elegí una de las profesiones que están en el rango de las más difíciles, ¿porqué digo esto? Por el riesgo que implica todo lo que es ser Policía , empezando desde su formación en una escuela especializada para eso, pasando por las horas de trabajo, las ausencias en nuestros hogares, el exponer tu vida para salvaguardar la de otros sin importar de quién se trate, y lo mas triste ser señalados por la ciudadanía como lo peor, ya que en estos tiempos no existe el mas mínimo respeto hacía nosotros, esto a causa de un grupo que se ha encargado de empeñar la buena labor que hacemos otros funcionarios.
Si bien es cierto que la función policial se basa en primer lugar en la Seguridad Ciudadana y hacer cumplir las leyes,esa no es sólo nuestra labor, la cercanía con la ciudadanía nos hace más empáticos al conocer sus necesidades, y de esta manera buscar los mecanismos para apoyar a esas personas que están atravesando por alguna situación difícil.

For six years I worked in that service because it is such a big place and located in the middle of highly dangerous neighborhoods, the directors of the different areas asked for Police Security, as they had been victims of the underworld on several occasions and that is how this service was born.

Durante seis años labore en ese servicio, por ser un sitio tan grande y situado en medio de barriadas altamente peligrosas, los directores de las diferentes áreas pidieron Seguridad Policial, ya que en varias oportunidades habían sido víctimas del hampa y es así como nace este servicio.
As time went by and we made several tours of the service, the patients' families approached us and asked us for help, either financially, food, clothing, medical supplies, medicines, etc., since they were low-income people and could not cover these expenses, being this type of requests so recurrent, We, the employees who work there, took the initiative to contact several non-profit foundations, which are responsible for making endless donations, to somehow support these people that when you know their case you realize that each story is stronger than the other and make you more humane and less frivolous.
Indeed, with such a noble initiative, there was a lot of receptivity received from several foundations, supporting and applauding what we were doing to be part of the solution to these families' situation.
Con el tiempo y haciendo diversos recorridos por el servicio, los familiares de los pacientes se nos acercaban y nos pedían ayuda, bien sea de tipo económica, comida, ropa, insumos médicos, medicinas, etc, ya que eran personas de bajos recursos y no podían cubrir dichos gastos, siendo este tipo de peticiones tan recurrentes, los funcionarios que ahí laboramos tomamos la iniciativa de contactar a diversas fundaciones sin fines de lucro, que se encargan que hacer un sin fin de donativos, para apoyar de alguna manera a esas personas que cuando sabes su caso te das cuenta que cada historia es más fuerte que la otra y te hacer ser más humano y menos frívolo.
Efectivamente con tan noble iniciativa fue mucha la receptividad recibida de parte de varias fundaciones, apoyando y aplaudiendo lo que estábamos haciendo para ser parte de la solución de la situación por la que atravesaban esas familias.

It was so gratifying, it filled me a lot, and pushed me to continue with this beautiful work, in one opportunity a father approached me and told me - I had another concept of the police, a very bad one, but you have made me understand that not all are equal, and that just as there are policemen doing bad, there is also a part doing good, God bless you - those were his words.
Ver esas caritas de alegría, de agradecimiento de los niños y padres ¡Guao! Era tan gratificante, me llenaba mucho, y me impulsaba a seguir con esta hermosa labor, en una oportunidad un padre se me acercó y me dijo - Yo tenía otro concepto de los policías uno muy malo, pero ustedes me ha hecho entender que no todos son iguales, y que así como hay policías haciendo lo malo, también esta una parte haciendo el bien, que Dios los bendiga- esas fueron sus palabras.

In spite of the difficult situation they were going through, they smiled with a smile that, in spite of their mouths, reflected the joy in their eyes, those children, true angels, more than I taught them something, they taught me to smile and to know that we are not alone, that there will always be someone to lend us a hand.
The collaborations, events, and donations made themselves felt in us and once a week we gave some support, and it was already familiar to them to see us in any corner of the hospital making a donation or participating in some social activity, the receptivity was so great that we no longer only did it within the Hospital City, but we went beyond that border.
A pesar de la difícil situación que estaban atravesando, ellos con una sonrisa que a pesar de tapa bocas se le reflejaba la alegría en sus ojitos, esos niños, unos ángeles de verdad, más que yo enseñarles algo, pues ellos me enseñaban a mí, a sonreír,y saber que no estamos solos que siempre habrá alguien que nos tienda la mano.
Las colaboraciones, eventos y donaciones se hicieron sentir en nosotros y 1 vez por semana algún apoyo prestábamos, y ya se les era familiar vernos en cualquier rincón del hospital haciendo algún donativo o participando en alguna actividad social, fue tanto la receptividad que ya no sólo lo hacíamos dentro de la Ciudad Hospitalaria, si no que traspasamos esa frontera.

Those were some of the many activities where I participated, which left me great teaching, our uniform causes an impact on people, it depends on us whether it is positive or negative, I decided to add, I decided to be part of the change, part of those who do good, that leaves a footprint, which carries a message where values and empathy are the protagonists and with my actions somehow change that image that many have of the police.
Y así como esas fueron muchas actividades donde partícipe, que me dejaron una gran enseñanza, nuestro uniforme causa un impacto en las personas, de nosotros depende que sea positivo o negativa, yo decidí sumar, decidí ser parte del cambio, parte de los que hacemos el bien, que deja una huella, que lleva un mensaje donde los valores y la empatía son los protagonistas y con mis acciones cambiar de alguna manera esa imagen que muchos tienen del policía.
You too can be part of this change in society, do good and don't look at whom, don't be one more in the crowd.
