Greetings, dear friends of the dailyblock@dailyblock community, where we can summarize what we do throughout the day with our daily activities.

Today I’d like to share some of what I did on Sunday, my day off. First, I went to the parish early to attend my catechism class, as I do every Sunday, where I teach nine adults in preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation, which will take place on August 1 in the presence of the bishop.

Being a catechist is a service I had never even imagined myself doing; however, once I was called to do it and began, it felt so good that now I can’t stop. It doesn’t pay in money, but it does pay in blessings.

In this session, it was the parish priest’s turn to lead the teaching, and since the topic was the Mass, he got so carried away that he went over the scheduled end time. It was a good lesson for the adults.

Next, we attended the noon Mass with the catechumens, as this is part of their instruction and complements their catechetical studies.

In the afternoon, after a brief rest at home, my wife and I went to the funeral of a couple we’re friends with—it was their grandfather’s funeral—to be with them during such a sad farewell. We went to the funeral home but arrived late; they had already left for the Cabudare Metropolitan Cemetery, so we headed there, thinking we’d catch up with the procession along the way, but we did manage to arrive in time for the burial.

It’s a pretty difficult time for the family, and having their friends around is important to them. Every loss causes pain, but they were already prepared because Grandpa was 100 years old, as they told us.

The metropolitan cemetery looks well-maintained, with its green grass and beautiful palm trees that create an atmosphere of peace and tranquility, very typical of these places.

Finally, we went to my mother’s house to visit her, because she hadn’t been feeling well lately. Her whole body aches, and she can barely get out of bed. She’s about to turn 102 in five days, and she always tells us she doesn’t think she’ll make it to that date. The years are taking their toll on her, but her mental clarity is impressive—she remembers everything and keeps up with what’s happening in the country.

My mom’s generation has passed away. There are hardly any living representatives left from that era when people ate healthily, without staying up late or eating junk food. This shows us the importance of a good diet and a calm, stress-free life. It confirms the saying: “We are what we eat.”

Until next time, my fellow Hivebloggers.
Blessings to all.
