The labyrinth, a game between life and death

In an effort to understand our existence, I sometimes imagine destiny as a great labyrinth with multiple routes, some intricate, others less rugged, all leading to the same end. At the starting point is life and death, each with its own north, but with a common point. Life will begin its journey, overcoming obstacles, suffering vicissitudes, it will continue as in a roller coaster between ups and downs. At the same time, death will come out, which at some point will reach life to complete the cycle, that is inevitable, at that moment the mystery of existence is completed; for some, it would be the end of the game, for others, on the other hand, only one more level.

The journey of life will last as long as the routes are chosen will allow it, some decisions in that choice will keep death away, entangled, or simply distracted. There will be other paths that make it easier for death to reach her. It seems like a game, only that there are no rules to prevent death from ending everything, that end is inevitable, the skill will be in prolonging as much as possible that encounter.

While that collision has no turning point in the timeline, the mystery of the unknown awakens fear in many, I believe in most, those who run in a hurry putting everything to avoid the encounter, never fully prepared for the big crash. However, there are those who deliberately bring about that encounter, sabotaging the journey in order to make it possible. There are also those who simply have no other choice, the route to their destiny is marked in the short term, and they irremediably impact head-on against that fearful haunter that eliminates them.

Averaging the duration of the game, which would be the equivalent of completing the labyrinth, can be complicated, not only because of the aforementioned, in which each person defines his or her own itinerary but also because it is associated with a myriad of factors over which one does not necessarily have control; but looking for a random number, maybe it is about 80 years, the so-called life expectancy. 80 years cheating death, and surely enjoying the scenery along the way...wow, a wonderful bonus.

Fearing death does not keep us away from it forever, if there is any certainty in the labyrinth of existence, it is that life and death will meet, sooner or later that will happen, what we do not know for sure is when it will happen, unless of course, we force that meeting by unnatural means. What is certain is that it is an inexorable fact, of which we will be witnesses and protagonists whether we want it or not. Being so, then it would be worthwhile to change the attitude with which we face the walk, perhaps the landscape of the labyrinth is not always the most pleasant, but surely that will be transitory, especially if we learn to grow in the difficulties, that way the beautiful is appreciated and enjoyed with more impetus.

At the beginning of this race to live, also began the race of that enemy that stalks us to end it, it will try to cross our path...and at some point, it will succeed, nothing will prevent the outcome, you know it, I know it, we are all aware of that...the big question would be then why not enjoy life to the fullest while it lasts? Being ourselves, without questioning, without so many regrets, without so much guilt, without harboring grudges that only dry the soul, without recurrently sabotaging our happiness... why? it is not really worth it. Besides, when our cycle is completed and they sing "game over", nothing stops for the other players, nobody sacrifices their game, everyone continues to work on their own path until it is their turn.

When we begin to walk the paths of that magical labyrinth, as I have decided to see this circumstantial journey, we are allowed to live, we are given an unrepeatable, unique opportunity... let's worry then only about living, let's focus all our energies on it; because death, that unmentionable that disturbs us so much, is already something certain that should not deserve more attention. 80 years is only an average number, there is no guarantee of anything, perhaps it is better to live each day to the limit as if it were the last instant before the final collision.
