He was playing a while ago and suddenly he needed my attention, I picked him up and feed him. But he still wasn't comfortable he was restless and crying I was confused, at some point his breathing pattern changed.
His temperature raised, I quickly took off his clothes and bath him to regulate the temperature.
I called a nurse that has been handling him incase of any minor issues, she requested I come over with him immediately. She did her thing and after a while his breathing started becoming normal and he was sweating.
This was what happened with my son on Friday while at my work place.

His temperature increases late at night, and becomes normal by the day he was restless and wasn't sleeping at night , I was worried because I was told that high fever reduces the child's blood.
I learnt something different from the nurse and I will like to share, my son is getting better by the day .
Something different about fever
I learnt that our temperature may be lower in the morning and higher in the late afternoon/evening.
A fever results when the immune system, apparently in response to an invasion of bacteria or viruses, produces substances in the blood called pyrogens. This causes the hypothalamus to “reset” to a higher level.
Fever can cause discomfort and dehydration, it is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, fevers seem to play a key role in helping the body throw off bacterial and viral infections.
While having this discussion with her, she went further to say when a child has a fever, the focus should be on the child, and the possible infection and not the reading on the thermometer. Fevers under 38.3 degrees Celsius generally do not need to be treated unless thechild is uncomfortable or has a history of convulsions, a chronic disease or hisnt eating, playing and sleeping has he should.
How to manage a mild fever
While some fever doesn't cause harm, there are some things that can be done to assist the child.
Things like:
1: Keeping the child’s room comfortably cool.
2: Dress the child lightly. (Overheating can aggravate the fever.)
3:Encourage the child to take in extra fluids, such as water, diluted fruit juices, and soup, because fever can lead to dehydration and avoid drinks containing caffeine, they might cause further dehydration.
Of course, prevention is the best medicine, and one of the most effective ways to protect your child from infection is to teach him or her basic hygiene. Children should be taught to wash their hands often especially before eating, after using the toilet, after spending time in a crowded public place, or after petting animals. If, in spite of your best efforts, your child does get a mild fever, do not overreact. As we have learned, there is much you can do to help your child recuperate.
