Today was a productive and memorable day. I attended an educational workshop with my brother-in-law. The event was sponsored by INTO, an organization that helps students and young people secure study opportunities abroad by partnering with universities in countries such as the UK, Canada, Australia, Dubai, and the USA.
The workshop was organized for INTO's local partners and was centered on how to effectively market their study-abroad opportunities while providing updates on current admission processes and available offers.
A major part of the training focused on helping prospective students choose the right university based on their academic goals and explaining the admission requirements for each institution.
While one of the representative was giving his presentation, I came to learn that study visa applications to the USA are currently unavailable for many Nigerian applicants due to recent policy changes, making other study destinations more practical at the moment.
Amazingly, the number of parents, gudience and individuals who are sponsoring their selves and ward to study abroad is so many.
It was inspiring to see how committed they are to providing better opportunities for their families. I also made some enquiries for myself because pursuing a master's degree abroad especially in the UK or the USA has always been one of my dreams.
One of the highlights of the event was the buffet. There was a wide variety of delicious meals, including rice, soup, cakes, chicken pepper soup, and many other delicacies. After the workshop, everyone served themselves, enjoyed the meal to their satisfaction, and even got some takeaway packs.
Overall, it was an informative, enjoyable, and worthwhile experience. I left with valuable knowledge about international study opportunities and a better understanding of how local partners can guide students through the admission process. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to attend, and that's how I spent my day today.
